CV double strike a bit OP

Post by battlevonwar »

Not sure how this works yet but it's basically a fighter than can strike twice. With just about the same range and only hindered by weather. It is = to Land based fighters which would be far superior due to numbers. Land based Fighter Units would or should have a larger number of squadrons.

The default values for Carriers are lower than land based Fighters, but lowering it too far would lead to them being unable to compete unless they had significantly higher research levels than land based Fighter units.

Ahhh.. I've seen someone able to KO 3-4 Fighter Squadrons(land based with CVs in conjunction with land fighters, in just a matter of 5-10 turns, there are mechanisms to do this) just saying that's pretty powerful and I know they wrecked land based in surprise situations but never anything I know like that since a flight deck doesn't usually carry much more than what, 70-100 fighters, and obviously they couldn't deploy them all and especially not in the early days(probably like 25-35-45 depending on the mission and that was take preparation)? Land based should carry somewhere on the scale of SC3 300ish? more or less... and you got better AA on land than you can carry on a ship unless you count the endless screens.

I know there has to be balance but it seems as though the balance is a bit tilted. If you don't see my point now it will hit home eventually. Unless I'm not seeing the bigger picture.

P.S. Seeing as this player has a mechanism and tactic they've learned to employ that is hard to counter I will not post how it was done. Though literally I couldn't think of a clever answer to this since Carriers move vast distances and strike very deep into land territory. There are techniques to counter this a little but not and protect your air space. 3 Carriers or 4 of them with 2 or 3 Fighters are deadly. You have to see that the CV is like the Tank of the Land Based Fighter Unit(with the ability to leave the area, or appear anywhere just about and be on TOP of you, smack plus smack twice = a little dice bye bye land fighter unit, maybe entrenchment would help?) Not sure what his tech is may be a fighter tech ahead? Not sure how this was done but afterward I felt like I was in SC1 a moment :P

Thinking about it, is your opponent using the Carriers as Fighters or to actually bomb your Fighters using the Naval/Tactical Mode?

Feel free to email me direct if you'd rather: bill.runacre@furysoftware.com

Thanks

This is a pretty neat tactic, but there are many ways to go about it. Goad enemy fighters into intercepting strategic bombers that are teched, do it twice in a row and then swoop in with land based fighter attacks on the disclosed interceptors.

Finally finish them off with the carrier sweeps, surprise is the word. Why are CAGs so effective, the surprise factor, just as you have touched on, moving many miles and showing up unexpectedly.
