Strategic Command v1.03.04 Beta available

Post by Benedict151 »

Hello Everyone
An updated patch is now available for Strategic Command. This fixes a number of bugs (inc. several to do with naval movement) and makes some adjustments to campaigns (many as a result of your feedback – e.g. British units in Egypt)
Save games from 1.03 onwards are compatible with v1.03.04 (although campaign changes won't take effect until you start a new one).
If all goes well we will release this is an official update around the same time as the Steam release.
And yes, we have jumped from v1.03.02 to v1.03.04

It is available from the members area :
https://www.matrixgames.com/members/pri ... sp?gid=504

And the public area :
https://www.matrixgames.com/members/pub ... sp?gid=504

As usual please do let us know what you think of these

regards
Ben Wilkins

v1.03.04
- fixed a CTD when completing a PBEM++ turn and returning to the MAIN MENU.
- added PBEM++ OPTIONS settings for Research, Diplomacy, Production Delay and Soft Build Limits.
- players can now resign from a challenge even if it is not their turn.
- players can now accept challenges from another language version of the game and the game will automatically switch to that language when playing a different language turn from their current language.
- fixed an operate unit error that still displayed unit movement areas when selecting operate from the new UI lower left action panel.
- fixed a naval unit pass through error that had non belligerent units take damage when passing through fully mobilized units.
- fixed a naval unit retreat error that would sometimes see naval units retreat from a Port during combat. The only exception to this is if a naval unit is attacked by a land unit.
- fixed a map scrolling error that would sometimes cause the display map area to be frozen when you stopped scrolling.
- fixed a bug that had friendly AI controlled countries place or purchase '*' units for human controlled countries.
- left clicking on a major capital city will now play their national anthem.
- moved the CREDITS screen to a 'View full credits' text button in the lower right hand corner of the MAIN MENU screen.
- added language flag buttons to the lower right hand corner of the MAIN MENU screen in order to switch languages while in game.

CAMPAIGNS
- Gave the British units that deploy in Egypt 0.8 experience (they arrive at half strength so some of this will be lost in reinforcing).
- Gave the British units in Egypt 0.5 experience and some upgrades, and increased the starting strength of the British HQ and Corps there from 5 to 8. Specifically in the 1939 campaign O’Connor now has full research, 0.5 experience and is at strength 8; W.D.F. now has AA level 1 and 0.5 experience; XII Corps now has AA level 1, 0.5 experience and is at strength 8. In the 1940 campaign these all have 0.4 experience and O’Connor has full research.
- Added Edinburgh as a third British capital (Ironclad).
- The UK now starts with Infantry Warfare Level 1.
- The USSR’s Engineer unit now arrives in the Production Queue on the 1st October 1939 rather than the 1st September 1940. In the 1940 campaign it now arrives on the 10th May 1940 so that the player can decide where they want it.
- In 1939 the USSR now starts with 2 chits assigned to Production Technology rather than 1.
- The USSR now starts with an AA unit at both Moscow and Leningrad, and Armies at Voronezh and Stalingrad.
- in the 1939 campaign the USSR’s starting MPPs have been raised from 45 to 150.
- Reduced the USSR’s diplomacy chits from 5 to 3 (SPzAbt653).

Nice!

It's a gimmick, yes, but a game without national anthems by clicking on major capital cities isn't a 'Strategic Command' game'! [;)]

I can't see the difference between the members area and public area, both links take me to the Members Club and the download speed there doesn't go above 451KB/s.
What should take ten seconds is taking 12 minutes.
Oh I'm not meaning any critics, just eager to install the new patch [:D]

Thanks for the updates, but when are we going to see the display of weather information in the lower left of the screen, fixed for those of us who have to play with screen resolutions that cut off most of this information?

Just had a look, the UK does not start with Infantry Warfare Level 1 however there is a research chit assigned to that. Not sure if that was the intention?

Had an issue with naval pass through loss when England was not at war yet. 1st turn. MP V0 4

AI picks worst possible route to move. Along British Naval bases when open water is available!!!! It does this everywhere.

None of these links ever work for me, I always have to go here to get the latest versions [and I hesitate to say anything for fear that those links will get screwed up].

Is anyone else having the game freeze sometimes when you click on the toggle to purchase a diplomacy chit or trying to save a game? Ive also had it freeze when i click on a research toggle. I usually have to close the game out and restart which is annoying because I lose what game play Ive made.

I also have another question. Ive played through this at least a half dozen times and each time I have gotten finland to enter on my side regardless of which side I play. During my current play through as allies I had something happen that hasnt happened before, I had finland at 30% allies favor when I moved my russian ships back to port to heal. The sub stopped at the hex just south of helsinki. when I ended the turn I got an event telling me that finland was alarmed by russian naval activity and suddenly they swung 130% to the axis and declared war on russia! I fixed this by loading the save prior to this turn and now Im back on track however what caused them to do that? Was it the sub? If so thats a bit extreme I think. I would understand a few points but 130?! Plus Im sure in past camps Ive placed a naval unit next to the hex and nothing happened. Why this time?

Also spotted that the Soviet Shock army is called "Pillbox" - doubt it is anything other than just a spelling in the localization text.

Are you sure you're not confusing it with Infantry Weapons research, as the UK does start with a chit invested in that?

I'd just like to second the weather request. I switch my resolution from 1920 * 1080 to 1280 * 720 when I play so I can get the zoom-in detail I want. (I can't zoom out the way I want now, but it is a better compromise).
