Strategic Command American Civil War - Steam Screenshots NOT working

I recently purchased this game using my 21-year membership discount and used the Product ID provided to add it to my Steam Library so that I could join the other players in the steam community to discuss the game.
However, whilst everything else seems to be working normally I am unable to create Steam Screenshots. Instead when I press F12 to take a screenshot there is no screenshot sound to confirm that one has been taken and no screenshot appears in my Steam Screenshot folder.
Instead I have since discovered that the game is taking a silent screenshot and is storing it in the Strategic Command American Civil War screenshot folder in My Games folder. Which I think is the default location used by the non-steam version of the game.
As an aside I've also noticed that my Saved Games are being stored in the My Games folder also although Steam claims they are being stored in the Cloud. I've tried manually instructing Steam to save my screenshots in its Userdata Folder, but it seems the Steam controls are being over-ridden by the games own configuration settings in some way.
Can you tell me how to override this and get your game to function normally as a Steam game.
