Excellent news. I first bought the game in 1999 and have played versions II and III since that time. It is great you continue to maintain it after almost 20 years!

No there is no Steam release planned at this time. We may look at adding it to Steam some time next year.

@#$%^&*!!!! My 12-year-customer 30-day discount coupon will have expired by then! Rotten luck!

But at least we have a release date!

Many many thanks to the development team.
I ‘ve bought all versions of TOAW, and I play the game nearly everyday.
Still the best wargame ever published for me.

Awesome news, and not long to go either now [:D]

I've been eyeing this one for a long time now, and time to get back into some proper war-gaming. I love hex/counter-based games, but a lot of them have such a huge scope, like the entire eastern front, just too many units, I prefer the small or mid/battle sized scenarios it looks like there's a lot of that - perfect for me.

Can't wait, hope not too many bugs <fingers crossed> [:)]

You're more than welcome. It's a labor of love. I went to War in the
East
when it came out but soon tired of the same situation over and
over and came back to TOAW because of the variety of scenarios.

I haven't stopped to count the number of scenarios available but I know there
are entire web sites that have available scenarios and they number close to
I'm thinking 1K or so.

Here's the link to Rugged Defense. They have lots of scenaros. Free.
http://www.the-strategist.net/RD/news.php

EDIT: Um.....so some of the scenarios you find at Rugged Design are for
most all versions of TOAW ( I, II, III, COW, etc. ) and might not be
balanced anymore because of the new version being released but at least
you can bring the scenario up to TOAW IV standards is to open the
scenario in the editor and save it ( I use the same name for the filename ).
That will associate the equipment list data into the scenario file itself
and then the equipment list isn't needed anymore. Unless you want to edit
the equipment used. Then just save it again. Fixed.

It's impossible to find ALL of them but we've been working on this bad
boy for a looooooooong time now. It's more ready than it's ever been.

Though I have purchased the last several versions, struggled with the game approach and ultimately removed each from my hard drive ..... still intrigued with the approach/concept .... count me in ..... hoping to get a pbem with a veteran to help me over the initial hump.......

might not be balanced anymore because of the new version being released

This is not entirely true. Many of the new game enhancements can be turned off as some could be in TOAW III. Of couse whether or not a scenario is 'balanced' is highly dependent on the skills of the players. This has been true of war gaming since I can remember.

One word. Workshop. Or is it two words. Work shop. In any event something that is long overdue.
