Given they have bases everywhere...pretty big map required.
At what turn/ event is Russia expansion triggered?

There was a work of fiction in the 1990s that dealt with a US-EU conflict centered on Poland. Wasn't a bad read IIRC.
ETA: The book was 'Cauldron' by Larry Bond. Political scenario would need some minor tweaks, but it could serve as the basis of a modern scenario.
