Can't withdraw the Queen Elizabeth!

Post by Mudmag99 »

I have it docked in PH... Do I need to move it? The 'Withdraw' option isn't even listed!

Thanks!

Can't withdraw anything from Pearl, and a British ship least of all. Has to be at the national home port or an off-map base.

I believe any national port is OK; doesn't have to match the nationality of the ship. Send it to San Francisco.

Listen to T.

From the manual: "To withdraw a ship, the ship must be off-map or at any national home base except the NEI and PI.. If these conditions are met there will be an option on the ship detail screen that allows for Withdraw Ship to be selected."

It must be a size "9" port as well.

Great seeing you Terminus.

The manual is out of date.

This was modified in one of the betas and made permanent in the last official patch.

Can't remember the exact criteria, but it HAS changed.

Perusing the change log for the betas in michaelms thread can document this.

I believe I have withdrawn the QE at both San Francisco and Sydney in different games.

This is probably in the top-5 most asked questions. The manual IS long out of date. The change was made in an early official patch.

The patch notes themselves have a typo, which I've corrected.

"48. Gameplay Change: Allow ship withdrawals at any on map level-9 port and some smaller ports with no enemy nearby. Ships can always be withdrawn from any off- map port or from any TF that is currently off map. Ships that are not badly damaged can be withdrawn from some on-map ports or from TFs in certain on-map regions. For on map, ship may not be on fire, total damage may not exceed 99 and no individual damage type (system, floatation, engine) may exceed 50. Ships may not be withdrawn from any on-map location where the enemy has air superiority. The intent is to prevent withdrawal as a method of saving a ship that stands a good chance of being lost or further damaged. On map withdrawal ports are set based on the historical exit locations for ships leaving the Pacific:

1. Any level 9 port.

2. National home ports of the United States, Canada, India, Australia, and New
Zealand (with no port level requirement)

3. Any level 7 or larger port on the US or Canadian West Coast.

4. Any level 7 or larger Indian port West of Ceylon (including Ceylon itself)

5. Any level 7 or larger port in South Eastern Australia, plus Perth.

6. Any level 7 or larger port in New Zealand."

Change is to swap "West" for "East" re Ceylon.

This is a little beside the subject in question here but still concerns the QE.: When trying to transfer the QE from Cape Town to Aden (to perform a troop transport from there) "the game" refuses to accept it.

When making the destination a square in the ocean and putting up Aden as her home port (alternate) - it does. If it shall work, I don't know - it has just left the Cape.

Leandros the ship is irrelevant- you can't set any TF to move from one off map base to another unless they are connected directly (by an off map route in this case).

In a similar vein- you can't go directly from the East coast to an on map base, or from the UK to an on map base.

What you've done will work- and is what I often use when moving ships between Cape Town and Aden prior to the opening of the Mediterranean route. After the Med opens you will be able to go directly to Aden from Cape Town.

Stupid me - I should have known. I suppose the reason I didn't understand the problem was that it would go to any other (on-map) base. Simply slipped my mind that Aden is also off-map.

Thank you!
