Wow, good question. About 5 to 6 for a simple LCU move. A sub patrol, 7 or 8. This is my best guess as I'm not in front of my computer. Your experience may vary....GP

I think your question can be taken in a number of different ways.... Do you mean the whole move for an entire turn or a land move, sea move, air move.... I'm guessing you mean an entire move, but as I'm not sure, I'll defer until you respond with clarity. Hal

Part of the answer depends on how OCD you are or how poor your memory is. I visit most bases each turn to refresh my memory on what is there, what needs there are looming, what can be upgraded, Air Unit fatigue of pilots and aircraft, LCU fatigue and disruption from malaria (which in turn affects morale), etc. I monitor TFs too, but a rollover is usually enough. The guys who turn out several turns a day can't be doing that much monitoring and will have far fewer clicks.
You can reduce clicks by using some of the tools that the game gives you- like 'set all (aircraft type) in this hex' or setting percentages by the text box that opens up the complete range of percentages for you to choose the one you want. The latter is three clicks - open the box, choose, click the done button. That is often less than incrementing the percentage 10% at a time using the buttons below that text option.

Do you want to move like a sumo wrestler or Bruce Lee?
Luckily, that information has been declassified:

It also depends on how crowded the base is.
If the base is not crowded enough that all TFs, air squadron and LCU icons are visible without having to scroll through the icons to find them, then less clicks are required to start the process of issuing orders to them.
If the base is crowded enough to require scrolling the icons, accessing the unit list may require less clicks than scrolling the icons.
For example, if the base is not crowded and all unit icons are visible without having to scroll and you want to oder an LCU to move across country the following list of clicks is required:
One click: access base interface
One click: access LCU interface
One click: change LCU mode from Combat to either Move or Strat (not required if moving in already set mode)
One click: select "select destination" command
One click: choose destination
One click: exit LCU interface

The question came to mind while out walking my dog.
In particular, I was thinking about the initial move as Japan, even if just following Krull's spreadsheet.
For subsequent moves, there will be less to actually do but more investigation of what is happening, e.g. how much further has this unit to go before reaching its destination.
Personally, I don't seem to have any problems with my "mouse finger", but I go cross eyed if I spend too long looking at the screen.

OK, that's 4 or 5 'clicks' for one unit.[:(][:D]

Oh, mine has 'bulked up' form this game. Probably the only part of my body that's in 'shape'.[:D]
but I go cross eyed if I spend too long looking at the screen.
I hear ya. I have to divert the eyes quite often.

It depends if the mouse is a JFB or AFB and whether their wheel is in supply.

Well in your opening post you did ask about the "average move" and the initial move in no way shape or form represents an "average" move, that's why I thought it best to ask for clarification. Also one could argue that in terms of initial move, it very must depends upon which side you are playing, as there is a LOT more involved in the initial move when playing Japan than with the Allies.

IMO, there can be a huge difference in attention to detail and time commitment in this game. You can spend over an hour on every turn, or you can spend 10 minutes.....alot depends on how OCD you are.
From my standpoint, I tend to play "quick" turns, which is basically issuing orders to units in contact with the enemy; that takes me 10-15 minutes sometimes.
But every few days, I play a "long" turn, when you have to check training programs, check convoys, check all the subs, etc etc.
I would get better results if I did a "Long" turn EVERY time, particularly on things like subs, but I just don't have time and would rather keep the game moving than squeeze out that last 5-10% of efficiency.
But that's just me

The answer is “lots” but to keep my pbem moving I try to play quick and long turns like Qball.
Quicker on weekday evenings and a bit longer on weekends.
Time wise, from downloading the turn, running the turn and entering a “quick” set of orders still takes 1-2 hrs for me, or 5-10 mins looking at each of the main Area Army/Area Fleets.
“Long” turn typically 2-3 hours with the extra time spent on things that can wait like checking pilot training, aircraft and engine pools.
If either of us feels too rushed or can’t fit the turn in we just let each other know, but we are currently averaging about 5-6 turns per week.
That might slow down as the game goes on and the allies get a lot more stuff, but when that happens my turns should get quicker!

And if you decide to get lost in the data base, like I do sometimes examining the status of units, looking up the non-displayed LCU values in the separate data base and comparing different types of units, you can find yourself implementing a few hundred or thousand extra clicks that have nothing to do with issuing orders.
All depends on how engrossed in the game you want to become.

This game has too many clicks and it certainly can get burdensome: setting up new convoy routes, moving ships of XX type to certain hub bases, etc. Ideally, in a perfect world where we get a new WITP, I'd like to see a better system for automating or at least streamlining some of the mundane aspects of this, though obviously there are trade-offs and I wouldn't want to lose the granular complexity (and therefore full control) that allows me to fine tune things when needed. I definitely sometimes feel burnout and put things off to future turns because I don't want to deal with the headache of *click* *click *click*

Whoa! Looks like that mouse has "clicked" with the computer mouse and is busy "interfacing". [;)]
I can't really tell if he is going for the quick or long turn though ... [8|]
