PBEM turn length

What is the average amount of time it takes someone to play 1 move by PBEM as the allies compared to the Japanese? On average how many game turns can one expect to get through in one week playing PBEM?
After the patch comes out next month, I may get my feet wet and play PBEM. I haven't played PBEM since Uncommon Valor was released, and I was able to do several moves per day with that smaller game.

In theory PBEM truns are only marginally longer than the an AI turn but In practice it doesn't work out like that as you now have to consider the other players commitments. When I've played I would aim for a min of one a day with more possibly more on none work days. There's also a possible time difference to consider.

Usually the limiting factor on the number of turns each day is not time, but how many turns each player is willing/able to do during one day. Time difference can play a huge role in this. I think the usual PBEM pace is one turn per day.
Both players have a lot to do in the first few turns, though Japan has more on its plate.
After the initial turns there isn't really a huge difference between the two parties in terms of time commitment.
But because of the huge amount of new toys that arrive beginning 1944 the Allied Side can start to be more time consuming.
Planning their deployment and shipping them to the front can take a lot of time and clicks.
All in all, there isn't really a clear answer to this as it strongly depends on the players involved.
I, for example, spent 5-15 minutes on a lot of turns, when I simply need to confirm orders or only slightly change things.
But the turns in which I plan campaigns, ponder about strategic situations, tend to pilot training or plan Industry are the turns I can spend 1-2 hours on.

As this has come up many times in the past, this answer (Maallon's) is a VERY good summary of the previous answers: It Depends. Read some AAR's and you will get a very good sense of the pace, the ebb and flow, the personal life interruptions that occur.

as an allied PEM on turn 430 (Feb 43) between us we are doing up to 4-6 moves a week depending on "life" getting in the way....

It would help to speed things up a little if certain areas could be put in control of the computer, like China and Russia for example.
Didn't the original WITP have this option for China?

Yes, the original WITP had a way to automate areas of the map. The Vanilla version of AE has 2 scenarios that do this for China. I don't recomend it....GP

You won't have to worry about the USSR/Russia for awhile.
Against the AI for China, you can try pulling back from the enemy so there is one hex of separation between your units. But as Japanese, you can take Chungking but just make sure that you don't kill too many units before you take both of the bases where the Chinese units will reform.
