Attack without combat animation

Post by Yaab »

Scen001v5, michaelm's beta patch from 07 2022

First time I see this.

A USN sub is attacked by an escort ship, but there is no combat animation. The game goes straight to combat report and lists no enemy ship.

It's rare but I've seen it happen on occasion. Lucky sub considering the circumstances. I prefer this result to when the sub skipper breaks off a possible attack (usually because the target is a small xAKL deemed not worthy of a torpedo) and gets depth-charged anyway--- with animation.

The submarine is sighted but can evade before the escorts can find and attack the submarine after the submarine starts to evade.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

i've had Subs approch a target, sub was detected by escorts and evaded without launching an attack. Escorts searched for sub but didn't find it so no combat took place. no combat so no animation. I think sometimes the window will very quickly flash then combat report pops up saying nothing happened. In this case escorts detected the sub but were unable to find the sub to attack and the sub couldn't get into position to attack.
