Naval strike squadrons, pitiful. Yokosuka KuK-2 needs to be bought out and sent to the SRA somewhere. But you cannot buy them out as they are restricted...you can however transfer them to a CV and free them up that way. Not sure I will do that, as I am not sure the AI does it.

No tracker for me in this game, so get used to looking at the industry screen.

10 days into the war and the economy is thriving...

Maizuru is increasing their naval dock to 50...

Nate production is shutdown...

Merchant and Naval shipyards are building everything. I am thinking about expanding the capacity here and can probably afford to shutdown a small number of merchant shipyards without effecting production.

Vehicles are expanding.

Well, you are several levels better player than I am, I don't need to build any MERCH build at all for the game. I doubt you do either. [;)]

So, yes, stopping MERCH build helps a lot to conserve HI. Expanding NAV? Maybe. But long term you will need to watch both ARM and VEH carefully. Managing supply is even more crucial than PBEM because you're fighting a MUCH bigger adversary. Of course you can win tactically, but if you run out of supply, strategically you just lost.

Last tidbit: watch your encircled enemy. The AI isn't too "smart", it will do things a PBEM player never would (except for Nemo).

To the best of my knowledge, the AI doesn't have any restrictions. It can load/move units irrespective of any restriction. Hopefully Alfred can confirm/correct this …

The AI doesn't move onto CVs terrestrial squadrons. Thus it never engages in the human player cheat of resizing units which historically never either operated from carriers or resized on a carrier to then move back to terrestrial operations.

Thanks Alfred and Pax, I am not going to do it. I never liked resizing squadrons to begin with.[:)] Or for that matter freeing up squadrons from restricted status by moving them onto a CV and off again.

But I am pretty sure that the AI can load restricted LCU's and move restricted air groups as it needs.

The AI does move restricted land units by ship. I don't know about the air units.

The AI responds to the orders given to it by the scenario designer via the script. The AI looks at the unit specified slot number, not at the unit HQ attachment. Hence, irrespective of HQ attachment, specified units are sea lifted as called for by the script.

Tavoy has no fighters, thanks to torpedoing that transport full of them, so, well, why not:

Morning Air attack on Tavoy , at 54,60

Weather in hex: Moderate rain

Raid spotted at 41 NM, estimated altitude 9,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 11 minutes

Japanese aircraft
Ki-21-IIa Sally x 16

Allied aircraft
no flights

No Japanese losses

Allied aircraft losses
Blenheim I: 23 damaged
Blenheim I: 2 destroyed on ground
Hudson I: 7 damaged
Hudson I: 1 destroyed on ground
B-17F Fortress: 4 damaged

Airbase hits 9
Runway hits 22

This raid really shows what happens when there is no AA present at all.

No Zeroes lost today. Hooray! Can't wait to field my first Oscar Ic squadron (13 planes in the pool, 49 repaired factories with another 18 building.

Zero production is at 74 with 17 building.

Japan has about 1000 political points. Only minor spending to date to swap out some leaders. I am guessing the first unit bought out will be a division, either to stabilize China, or more likely to send to Singapore. Both targeted divisions are in planning.

R&D off to a promising start. With no resizing of squadrons, I probably won't have to build as many naval planes.

how do you get exactly 30 factories on R&D? Is there some shortcut to increase factories by 1 or the like? I always end up with 32 factories due to doubling the existing ones.[&:]

On the industry screen click to increase size, and then a button appears to the left of the amount to be increased that will reduce the expansion by 1.

Once the number is correct click to expand factory.

seems like I'm too dumb. I only get the option to "expand" and it always doubles the amount with expand. And I also don't get a button where I can decrease it by 1. Am I in the wrong screen?

You are expanding off the wrong screen link. Start with industry screen and pick a factory to expand.

lol, I must be doing it really wrong. Which industry screen should I use? When I use the one that shows all the factories I don't have an option to expand. [&:] Which shortcut is the screen I should use?
