Air unit overrun - how long?

Post by ncc1701e »

I was thinking the delay was quite long so I look in the manual to know the rule.

I see page 31:
Air units that are overrun lose 50% of their strength and go on the deployment queue of the enemy.

But I see page 67:
Enemy air units overrun by land units lose strength according to their current effectiveness and go to the deployment queue to be redeployed next turn.

And page 68:
Overrun — Land units may overrun enemy fleets and air units. Fleets retreat to sea and air forces are placed on the deployment queue taking damage according to their effectiveness.

Obviously, this is the next turn but when do they come back? [:D]

That’s definitely not happening at the moment.

Just overran 7 air groups in the opening moves 1941.... they are all in the queue.

You sure they aren't getting slaughtered in the air, dropping to 1, which rounds to 0?

I should have not said "definitely". The example in my head was French and they surrendered not long after so maybe I just didn't notice.

Yes, they are all in the queue next turn but for how long? 6 months? 1 year?

I found it super long.

Way too long for air. Sometimes you could almost rebuild one faster in case of ground support type[8|] And it still arrives at low readiness and low strength, so extra months on top of all the months already in the queue. I think something shorter (even if with more damage to the unit) would be more realistic.

I believe it is 6 months...basically 3 to 4x at long as a shattered unit.

NOW keep in mind this was in place prior to the new shatter rules...so I think it needs to be adjusted.

They always seem to drop 50%...from best I can tell but I have never tested it.

They lose 50% of strength just prior to overrun, yes. Never looked for the readiness loss % but it seems to be there.

Don't forget that Alvaro considers the pilots inside these units.

When an air unit is overrun, some pilots are captured, some pilots are injured, some pilots are taking the bus or the train to try to escape.
New pilots are trained to complete the deprecated unit.

180 days is the number of days to create a new unit.

Nirosi is right, you need to wait 180 days and then you must repair, upgrade and restore effectiveness of the unit.
This is a little long. I would reduce the wait to 120 days to get the unit back on the map. This is 4 months.
