Gibralter Blockade

I opened my turn to a message that Gibraltar is under Supply Blockade. There is a single Italian Sub NE and I have 3 BBs in Gibraltar.

The manual says: Gibraltar and Malta – if an enemy naval group is next to the port and no friendly naval group is in or next to the port supplies are cut off to these ports.

Why am I blockaded? In addition why would a sub parked in the Med that can't pass through to the Atlantic be able to impact my supply chain.

A typo. It is supposed to be "next to the port" or could be a bug. It's been a while since I looked at the code and the rules.

Move the fleet out of the port to the left side of it.

You can attack the sub with planes since it is on the coast.

It is supposed to work also "in port" (it did for Malta in my games). Could be a bug for Gibraltar...

I'll double check. What scenario is that?

Ok the rules need to be modified. You need a supplied fleet. Those fleets are out of supply.

A supplied fleet can patrol and attack to protect the port. A fleet with no fuel or ammo can't defend that port.

Did you enter that port out of supply already?

I will likely change this rule because it is confusing so that all you need are fleets in the hex as it says in the rule book.

For now move a supplied fleet next to the port.

The Fleets were in Supply. They had moved directly from England into Gibraltar to make sure that Supply was reestablished there. I would highly suggest correcting the mechanics so that ships in Gibraltar maintain supply. If it was up to me I would say that you couldn't put Gibraltar out of Supply just from the Mediterranean side but obviously if you want to keep that aspect that's up to you.

I agree that is why you put a fleet on the other side. Sometimes seemingly easy mechanics are hard to do in a game or the exploit isn't realized till much later and I have to improvise.
