The 4th unit.
Alvaro. I'm presently mocking up partisans in USSR, dividing corps to divisions in a zoomed-out view. All infantry units look the same.
I know you may have future plans for the 4th unit on the sheet, but couldn't you, meanwhile, assign it to the divisions. In vanilla it is the same look, so the switch will go unnoticed for anyone playing the original graphic set-up. We modders could use the change to differ the smaller, rearguard divisions from the larger formations, however, and it will help to distinguish the difference even in the frontline.

You mean use that empty counter for partisans? Is that what you mean?

RE: The 4th unit.
No, sorry for being unclear.
I mean that the 4th (non-used) unit should be used for divisions; the smallest infantry formation.
Even better, of course, would be if the 5th unit would stay an army (or large corps) as it is now, the 4th unit would be a corps, and the 3rd unit a division.
Assume then, as an example, that we mod the infantry symbols blue (army), green (corps) and yellow (division). If I then have an army (blue) and divide it, there will be one green and one yellow unit on the map. If I divide the green unit, I will have three yellow; all being divisions. When hunting partisans (or doing large-scale regular movement) in a zoomed-out view, it will be easy to see what units are of what size.
(EDIT: in the second suggestion, the 3rd, 4th and 5th unit should be division, corps and army, in that order. Easier to think this way. Therefore, I edited it above.)

RE: The 4th unit.
Hi Alvaro, I have to say Warplan is my favourite game! Plus you're constant support makes the game an even better proposition moving forward because the game is only going to get better.[:)]
But I do find it strange that the LARGE CORPS and the ARMY units both have exactly the same in-game stats? I think that is a waste of a unit type. As it stands it's a simple process to tweak all the unit types per Country, so that an Army, for example, has very different stats whether it be British, German, Russian.
I think the small Corps/ Large Corps should simply be a Corps.
So unit types are:
HQ
Brigade
Division
Corps
Army

Please do.
Am I correct, once a decision has been taken, that the change is rather easy for you to do?

RE: The 4th unit.
Splendid! I will then look for it in a subsequent patch. [;)]
RE: The 4th unit.
Make it an option please I don’t want a rainbow on my map, I think it would look too busy for green yellow blue units in the map, I just read the unit size symbol and don’t need green yellow red mucking up the map.

Army and corps have the same starts but the Russian armies have 20% more health than any other nation's large corps

RE: The 4th unit.
Zovs, no worries. If Alvaro does this change, it will only be visible in the cases a modder decides to make a difference to these units. And since one doing it will probably be into the realms of colours anyway, he will most certainly not be your first choice. [:)]
RE: The 4th unit.
Seems to me the important concept that AV has here is stacking. will it all stack through all four levels?
RE: The 4th unit.
Not sure what you're refering to now, Trogus?
RE: The 4th unit.
Presently infantry combines from division to small corps (two divisions) to large corps (three divisions). Is an army four divisions? I think this is a very good feature. In fact it would be interesting if this feature applied to armor and mech.
RE: The 4th unit.
Okay, we're not discussing the same thing now.
But you're right, I would like that too, especially that armour could be split in two. But maybe that would lead to ant-swarms, I don't know.

This is correct. Also this is a corps level game with divisions not a division level game with corps. A 2nd thing is that armored corps were armored divisions and infantry divisions so I can't really do it the way people think they want it done realistically.
