Help needed with FF production

Hi Guys,
In my current game (global war scenario), something really strange and ugly happend with the saved Free French build points. Twice during this game now. I must correct this, but I need help with that.
During production in J/F '43, FF had 5BP saved in Cameroons (4 in Yaoundé and 1 in Douala) and recieved 2 more from America, so 7BP available. FF did not build anything as they were saving to build HQ DeGaulle next turn, so they saved 7BP (3 in Yaoundé, 4 in Douala).
Now it is the next turn (M/A 1943) and I am inspecting all resource and BP transportation and I see that FF has indeed 7BP physically saved in Cameroons but production planning form gives a real strange calculation of build points for FF:
-> 2 trade recieved
-> 7 saved at start
-> 6 available Build Points (and only 4 if the 2 traded BP do not get through)...
...And I know the amount of BP the program will use during the coming production phase will indeed be those 6.
So my question is if any1 knows how to edit the GAM so that during production FF has 7 available BP (because it has 7 saved BP)?
America will give them 2 more so that would bring them to 9BP, enough to produce DeGaulle.

You should not have put more than 1 in Douala. You were able to draw 2, this sounds like a bug.
Rule: "You may save only 1 build point marker (of any value) in each city or port (cumulative) in your major power’s home country (any Commonwealth home country) and double these limits in your major power’s capital (e.g. The Commonwealth can save 16 build points (4 x 4) in London). In a later production step, you can remove those build points from the map and add them to your build point total. You may spend any number saved at your capital. No more than 1 saved build point may
be consumed per turn from each other city, useable factory and port"
Douala is port, so maximum 1 bp can be drawn from it. Yaoundé is the capital, any amount can be drawn from it, up to the maximum bp.

Hmm, I see you are right according to RAC (Not RAW8, there is no limit in consuming BPs anywhere).
Checking RAC, it seems there is a bug here indeed:
Yaounde is FF current Capital, so it should allow for the saving (AND consuming) of 8BP. MWiF allows FF to save only 4BP.
Douala could have 4BP saved but FF may consume only 1 from here.
So MWiF enforces the current situation correctly (FF can consume 3BP from capital + 1 from port + 2 from trade = 6BP max). I should roll back the game, correct my error and save 4BP in Capital and 3BP in port, then FF can consume 7BP max (including 2 from trade).
But if I am correct and FF should indeed be able to save (AND consume) max 8BP from Yaoundé instead of the max 4BP that MWiF is enforcing, I still would like to change its available Build Points next production phase to 9BP. How to do that?

One way to do it is to edit in the unit (HQA?) that should have been built onto the map when it should have arrived. And throw the corresponding BPs away during production.
Maybe editing in a unit is easier than to mess with the BP situation?

Here's how I'd do it. When Free France production comes around, build a CP, save and edit game file to 8 remaining BPs for production, build De Gaulle, undo CP build and save only BPs beyond the actual 8 needed for De Gaulle.
Only 1 simple edit need.
If you're not comfortable with the edit I'd be happy to make it if you post your game file at the beginning of Free French production.

I know how to edit the number of BPs in a location on the map but I think that's not what you are suggesting.
Even worse, I doubt that would be what I need

I'm away from my computer right now. If you've downloaded a copy of my editing guide search for production. I believe I have a section in that guide on how to do the edit.
If it's not there or you can find it let me know and I'll post specifics tomorrow on how to do the edit.

Hmmmm, I have downloaded and searched your A Layman's Approach to "Successfully" Editing the MWiF Game File from Dropbox (latest upload 19/01/2024), but I can only find how to save/insert BP on the map.
If editing FF 's available BP during production cant be done I'm ofc also fine with Orm 's suggestion of editing in DeGaulle but no idea how to do that.
DeGaulle is the only unit worth >7BP that FF is planning to build so once he is in the game, FF can deal with all their future builds (as long as the allies are lend leasing 2BP/turn, because I think FF will still want to build at least 1ARM and without the allied lend lease FF would only be able to build units for 5BP max).
But whatever the solution will be, thanks a lot for your help/time, Ronnie!

As always, made a backup of your file before attempting any edits.
(1) I've already built De Gaulle, so I'm going to edit during French Production to but an O-chit.
(2) Free France has 5 BPs, so during production I build a CP, save file and exit MWIF.

(3) Open the game file in your favorite text edit (w/Encoding = ascii mode)
(4) Search for
0,Production

(5) The first number on the line directly beneath that line is remaining BPs.
(6) Change that to the number of BPs needed (in this example 15 to build an O-chit).

(7) Save & reload file and, if you've correctly made the edit the file will load properly and you'll see that Free France has 15 BPs (or whatever number you made the change to) for production left.

(8) Build the unit (in this case the O-chit) and undo the build for the CP.

(9) Save your game file and continue.
(10) And when it comes around to saving unused Free French BPs only save those, if any, that they legitimacy have remaining.

I 'll let you know if I managed to do it. There 's a few more Major Powers that have not used up all their BP so hopefully that doesn 't change the procedure too much.

The procedure is the same for any major power. First for that power make a build, any build. Save file, exit MWIF, do your edit, reload game file.
I find this edit very useful especially when MWIF screws up BP routing like when I want to send UK BP to USSR via India to Baku but MWIF wants to send one from London.

If editing the savegame was not possible, I don't know how many games would have derailed beyond repair.
As a result I think I wouldn 't even be playing MWiF anymore...
