Patch 1.75 - the frustration continues

Post by JamesLee »

Man, I'm almost through with this game and it's a shame. The upgrades were problematic [:(]; now I have v. 1.70 and am ready to go. [:)]

Problem #1 : Download of patch 1.75 was successful. I go to open game; Result: "Canot Open File C:\MatrixGames\For Liberty\Data\esemv2.txt". System cannot find the file specified. Can't play game! [:@]

Problem #2: still haven't received the promised box version of this update (which was going to be for original purchasers (way back in November). [&:]I still have not been able to play this game through once for various tech, patch, and other problems.

Have never experienced ANYTHING like this on my computer! HELP! [:(]

James,

Hang in there, I need some more information to understand how we can help you.

What was the original installation file you used for For Liberty? Was it the download you received from us or are you trying to apply the patch on top of a previous installer (i.e. the Battlefront.com version)?
Problem #2: still haven't received the promised box version of this update (which was going to be for original purchasers (way back in November). [&:]I still have not been able to play this game through once for various tech, patch, and other problems.

I'm a bit confused here - if you mean the upgrade offer for previous owners, that had nothing to do with a boxed copy. We offered a free full download of the new version if you followed the instructions. This would give you a new full installer that would be without the previous elicense protection and a new serial number to install future updates. There was never a boxed version promised as a free upgrade.

If you mean that you ordered a boxed version from our store and it has not arrived yet, please contact support@matrixgames.com with your order # and we'll investigate to resolve that ASAP.

My "original installation" was the last version (1.60 or 1.70) of For Liberty via Matrix web site download.

I patched 1.75 to this.  And now I cannot use the game for the error message I noted in the last e-mail.

Should I remove the FL files, and reload the game from the original Battlefront disk and then patch the Battlefront original release?

As for the boxed version, I was told I would receive (as an original owner of the boxed BF version) a FINAL version of the game in boxed format with a CD.  This was for helping with technical problems with the game a couple of months ago. I still haven't seen this.

I don't believe the 1.75 update will work with the Battlefront version and it is working for others on top of the original Matrix installation, so I will have to ask Hussar's help with figuring out what's wrong here. I would revert to your original Matrix installation in the meantime, so that you can continue to play, as that should be as up to date or more than the original Battlefront installation.

As far as the boxed version, who made that promise to you? If we did, we'll make good on it, but I haven't heard anything about that. The offer we made to all previous owners was a free download of the updated Matrix installer sans BF.com copy protection.

Regards,

- Erik

Since noone else is reporting a problem with 1.75, I think you may have done the installation wrong. You need to install the full Matrix version and then the 1.75 patch.

Exactly! That's the problem I'm having. I have followed the steps along the way and have not had this kind of problem before. I too cannot open saved games.

Eric,

There is no place that I can find on the Matrix web site that will allow me to download the game again (v. 1.70). [:(]

Can you help me out? [&:]

I have the license key serial I used last time. How can I do this again without having to buy the game again. The only CD version of the game is the original Battlefront version I purchased months ago.

HELP.

James,

To re-download orders from our online store, go to www.findmyorder.com with your order info, or look for the re-download link in the store FAQ. If this was part of the free upgrade, that was a one-time download only.
