New Guy Questions

Post by Agrippa »

I have been playing Crown of Glory for the past month and just started reading this forum. Though the past forum dialog has been helpful, I still have a few questions.

First: Prisoners - how do you keep them from being freed? I had a full army form in perfect order in the middle of my home country.[:@] I had thought they were safely under lock and key in a fortress, and then a lone Cossack freed them. I would think that the fort should at least be taken before letting the hoards out. It would also make sense that if they were freed, they would be greatly reduced to show a lack of readiness.

Second: Why am I unable to store cloth? I am playing Sweden and my provinces are capable of producing a fare amount of cloth, but it doesn't show up in storage.

Third: How does the game play in multi-player? Perhaps someone who has tried it could let me know how it went. Can you still fight the detailed battles?

Thanks!

You have to keep a division, even if militia , with the prisoners. I too will keep prisoners in a fortress, but never alone. If a province is undefended then enemy units can conquer it right away. You must garrison the province. POW's don't count as a garrison.

Textile will store. You just aren't producing as many as you think you are. Could be because of a lack of wool. Could be weather, presence of enemy units, privateers stealing it, etc.

Multiplayer is the one part of the game that does not seem to work as was intended. Online play you get to play detailed battles. PBEM you do not. But there are numerous bugs and broken code that prevents it from being playable at this point. Several groups have played MP games, but usually have to stop after several turns. Eric and his crew are trying to fix and I beleive that is their major focus at this point before releasing the next public patch.

Make sure you register your game and get the members beta patch 1.218. THis patch will ease a lot of your pain.

Welcome to the COG club. It's a great game, well supported by the dev's and a helpful community here.

Good luck.

If by "cloth" you mean textiles...textiles are a bit harder to store above 100, because at that point they are considered a luxury good like Wine, Spice, and Luxuries...and hence your populace will consume them, and get happy.

I hope they get the bugs worked out on the multi-player.

My prisoner problem happened when a Militia unit was in the fortress with them, but that was before I downloaded the patch. Perhaps it was because the prisoners out numbered the garrison.

The problem with the cloth could well be linked to wool production. I had suspected as much, but wasn't sure.

Thanks Tex!

Just got the 1.2.18 patch

I didn't realize you need a "forum" account to post in the matrix forums and a separate "members" account to get the newest patchs until I read your post and tried to get the 1.2.18 patch.[;)]
