A short feature on WCS in the hometown newspaper, the "Ann Arbor News." Might be of interest:

Thanks for the link.
Looking foward to the WWI or WWII project, after the Emporer's Edition.
I think that CoG is not only the best Napoleonic strategy game ever made; but very well might be the best strategic, empire-building game for any era. It's remarkable to think that it was WCS's first effort. One would think that they had been fine-tuning this type of game for a long time.

Having rediscovered CoG recently, and learning the ropes of Forge of Freedom as I go along I have to say that the style of gameplay represented by these games/simulations appeals so much to me that I will purchase any other game coming forth from Western Civilization Software.
I am looking forward to the upcoming games covering WWI and/or WWII mentioned in the article. Maybe Eric can enlighten as to what we can expect in terms of style and scale?

Good for your image and maybe it helps to get more customers. But Tina Reed probably had to shorten her article, as she is jumping around between CoG and FoF, does not offer any facts like number of employees, volume of sales etc. And what lesson do you get (as mentioned in the headline)? As it is called Tech Thursday, I certainly miss technological details.
But anyway, it is nice to see a picture of Eric and that WCS gets coverage beyond the wargaming community.
Though I would have loved to see a Rome Game by WCS or one covering the English Civil War, WWI might still be intersting.

Yes, Rome and ECW are both good periods to cover. There was an excellent board game on the ECW but I have never seen a computer version. A Roman empire game would have a lot of strategic possibilities combined with plentiful/varied opponents and long time periods which could work well with the more simple tactical module mentioned as a possibility for ancient conversion of the COG/FOF format.

A simulation on the Seven Years War or perhaps the Victorian Era would be nice. Many of the conflicts during the Victorian Era where not on a very large scale, like the Crimean War or the Zulu War. Both of these could work well with CoG's tactical model.

I would love to see a Seven Years War or a Second Punic War game in the future. After that, a WWI game would be great as well, though I am a bit exhausted from playing WW2 for so many years. Really looking forward to what the future holds.

As I mentioned in the thread for this topic on the FOF forum, I did mention some other historical eras that we were considering (other 19th century stuff, some ancient or medieval), but these didn't seem to make the article.

I know this thread is old, but I just wanted to say that having wcs games only really...a couple days ago, I'm really excited for the COG emperors edition to come out, which is hopefully soon. Anyhow, I was really, really excited to see that your company is based in my home state (lived in SE Mich for many years, most recently in Ypsilanti (which for those of you who don't know is sort of the black sheep of the Ann Arbor family) ) and doing well (I had to move to TN for my first job out of school [:(]..nothing against tn though, it's great). As soon as the new Crown of Glory comes out, I'll be sure to do my part to boost the economy if only in a small way (especially michigan's) and pick up a copy. And it looks like it will be a great game besides, which i guess is more important to most folks [:'(] well, and me, i just mean that it's good for everyone involved
sorry for the long-winded post
