Information From Spain - Protector Of the True Faith

Be it known that Spain’s actions are being determined by divine guidance.

Indeed, we are on a “Mission From God”.

Trade (Please contact before setting up any trades)

Available Exports:
None currently

Imports Needed:
Cheap Food

Spain is very concerned about the disturbing talk from malcontents in several countries but most specifically it’s own colonies in the Americas. The suggestion that rule should come from any source other than “Divine Right” is simply disgusting to any enlightened man. It is now obvious that our past policy of gentle kindness and guidance to the inhabitants of our American possessions is against the wishes of "his" higher authority. Spain will therefore focus its efforts on the obligation to make it's colonial inhabitants see the true path to their salvation. While Spain’s attention is focused on its children in the Americas, its involvement in European affairs will be limited.

While on its divine mission across the sea, Spain wishes it known that any violation of Spanish territory shall be considered an act of Heresy and Spain knows how to deal with heretics. If Spain is forced into conflict with a heretical country in europe, it's actions will be guided by two principles:

1. Spain will not be bound by such unimportant earthly measures such as Glory.

2. There will be no peace with heretics, ever!!

Denmark Declares War on Sweden!

Post by evwalt »

July 15, 1792

At Christianborg Palace, Copenhagen, Denmark

Prince Regent Fredrick steps to the balcony of the Royal Palace, looking at the buzzing crowds below. Wearing the red and blue uniform of the General-of-the-Army, Fredrick is accompanied by a group of men wearing the red and white of the British Army and the red and grey of the Hanoverian forces.

As the Prince holds up his hands, the crowd quiets. “My countrymen,” he begins. “Over the past few years, our country has suffered humiliation after humiliation at the hands of our dastardly neighbors to the north, the Swedes. Danish fishing vessels have been seized by the Swedes without cause; Danish merchantmen stopped on the high seas by Swedish warships!”

“For long years we have endured these insults while trying to reach a peaceful solution. Always we have been rejected! And we will endure them no longer!” Fredrick motions to the cluster of officers to his rear. “With the help of our gallant allies, the British and Hanoverians, we shall teach the Swedes a lesson they shall long remember. As of this moment, Denmark is in a state of WAR with Sweden!”

To the wild cheers of the crowd, Fredrick leads the cluster of officers back into the palace; there to review the invasion plans one last time….

A royal description of an epic moment in the marshal history of the Danish people. The festivities must have looked even more impressive from the decks of the combined fleets commanding the harbour. So must the ancient Athenians have felt in those far off days when they despatched their magnificent expedition on its triumphant journey to the west.

Your comments on the different uniforms of the units present led me to recall the story about the King of Naples who when asked about changing the uniform colours of his troops replied , "dress them in whatever colour you like, they will run away just the same."

Not that this would ever apply to your brave soldiers.

The First Baltic War ends

Post by evwalt »

March 15, 1793

At Christianborg Palace, Copenhagen, Denmark

Prince Regent Fredrick walks to the balcony of the Royal Palace, eight months to the day after he announced the beginning of the First Baltic War against Sweden. As he approaches the rail, he is struck by a wall of sound as the cheers of the crowd seem to rattle the very walls of the palace itself.

He looks down on the scene below him. The most decorated regiments of each division drawn up at the front of the courtyard, the huge crowds beyond, all the way out to the harbor, where every ship seems to fly streamers of celebration.

“My fellow countrymen,” he begins, to which the crowd responds with roaring waves of approval. It takes several minutes for them to quiet once again.

“My fellow countrymen, the First Baltic War is over. Sweden is defeated!” Again the crowd roars in approval before quieting as the Prince Regent raises his hands. “Eight short months ago, the provocations of the Swedes drove us to war. Together with our British and Hanoverian allies, we were forced to respond.” Fredrick motioned some of the men standing behind him forward, representatives of both allied armies.

“But the dastardly Swedes know no honor! Faced with invasion, they dispatched entreaties filled with lies to the Russian Tsar, tricking him into war on Sweden’s side. But the Tsar was far too wise to be fooled for long. He quickly discovered the Swedish lies and withdrew his support. Soon the Tsar found himself beseeched by the Finnish people to take them under his protection; to free them from their Swedish oppressors.”

“And now,” Prince Fredrick paused and motioned another man forward, recognized by the many that could see him as the Russian ambassador to Denmark, “now, Russia stands in friendship once again with Denmark, insuring peace will reign in the Baltic Seas for many years to come!”

As the crowd begins cheering again, Prince Fredrick waves goodbye merrily, then turns to lead his guest back into the palace to continue the celebration.

Austria is going on holiday 8/9-8/21. Are there any concerns with Prussia taking over my turn during this time?

I have no problems either, especially since we are moving away from the campaign season again.

I would suggest that you post some events where you would like us to wait for your return (ie. all of Europe declares war on you, an enemy gets within 1 march of Vienna, etc.) While I doubt any of those things would happen, I wouldn't mind waiting a little while for your return in such a situation.

(I can pretty well assure you Denmark won't be declaring war on Austria. Too far to walk[;)])

Are we moving away from the campaigning season? (Dictated from Russian Supreme Headquarters in a mudhole, somewhere in Poland.)

I have no problems either. Just so long as I can persuade Prussia to include me on the share out list for Austria's treasury each turn aka Austria-R-Us!

It is with great sadness that I must address this communication to the Royal Houses of Europe. The dastardly French have not only attacked Spain, but have launched a cowardly suprise attack. Even with the effects of a despicable surprise attack, the French Navy has received a nasty bloody nose. God is truly with us.

Spain sends call upon all of the royal powers in Europe to join and assist us in our crusade against the godless frogs. We join in common cause our Prussian and Austrian brothers who recognized the black nature of the French government and leadership before the rest of us.

As noted before, since France is now recognized as a nation of heretics, there will be no peace - ever !!!

Join us in our crusade if you can. If you cannot participate militarily, please assist us economically so that we may do our utmost to rid Europe of this scourge.

I will trust that my Prussian friend provides an appropriate response. :-) Actually I may check my E-mail a few times plus give Andrew my cell # for any emergencies to keep things moving.
