Hello, I recently purchased Napoleon in Italy for a Windows 8 PC and I'm having problems launching it after installation. After installing it I click on the shortcut for the game menu and click on play, after which nothing happens. I tried running in XP compatibility mode, but that still doesn't work.

i recommend you open a support ticket with Matrix Games because they probably wont see the query down in this forum they rarely if ever visit, i can get he game running in win 7 fine enough but of win 8 i am not sure

I hate to tell you the bad news, these old Hussar Games will not work in Windows 8. I saw this as this week's current discounted game and just was waiting for all these complaints for the poor guys with 8.1 that purchased this. I tried just about everything possible for there Revolutionary War game and you can see a few posts below this someone else tried. This game has been unsupported for years.
We both got it to work by creating virtual XP O/S drives within your 8.1 PC, a cumbersome process to say the least.

thats no good - why is Win 8.1 so unkind? i suppose you could get VMWARE and install a virtual xp os as mentioned - i use that on my current win 7 to play some old games from the late 90's and it works well. i have tested Nap in Italy in the virtual xp os on my win 7 comp and it works in tat environment just fine
