Question To Gil R.

Post by elmerlee »

Waited a long time for a civil war game like this. It looks wonderfull.

I have only 512 ram. OK - so I guess that will work with low ani. What do I lose? Does this degrade the icons in the battle screen or is there some movement that occurs as an ani on this screen that is lost (no biggie if so)?

Maybe more important. Is the upcoming patch release mostly at your disposal or is Matrix have there usual veto power? Of course I realize they have the FINAL word. This concerns me because their record with getting patches out is just about the worst around.

I'm not the programmer, so let me quote another post by Eric, who is:

On a system with 512MB, it'll run, but there will be caching to virtual memory that can lead to some intermittent delays. It does run better in the low-animation mode.

In case anyone was wondering, the big difference between regular graphics and low-animation: low-animation turns off things like the province background pictures and unrest flames, extra frames of animation in quick combat and smoke, and uses the chit-view instead of the little guys in detailed combat.

There is currently a bug that causes cities not to appear in the low-animation mode, but I believe that's been fixed and will be in an upcoming patch. [Legal disclaimer: I am not the bug-fixer, so don't quote me on that.]

Regarding patches, we do not release them ourselves, but I don't anticipate that Matrix will cause a long delay before the first patch is released.

Care to shed some light into this broad statement? Or is this just latrine paroles again like you seem to make up so often (looking at other famous threads you started).

Not being quite as constrained as Marc in having to be nice to people....

... I'd just like to say that statement is total cr*p.

Marc - I don't want to get into a pi**ing match over this. Not sure if I've made nasty remarks anywhere on these forums EXCEPT in the Max Football forum. Which is a complete joke by the way and enough to ruin the best companies track record. I have not gone back to look at my other posts but since I own 7 or 8 Matrix games I'm not exactly just a basher. Also been a beta tester.

Check the boards. I have seen comments were people delay buying any Matrix game due to the need for patches. As an example how long did it take to get WiTP in shape?  Maybe even a bigger complaint is how Matrix will push games for a couple years and then cancel them or just postpone time after time. The latest example is World in Flames.

Fact is I think this game looks like the best game to hit the market in years. I asked a couple questions and mayble ruffled your feathers but got a reasonable response from Gil R. and would just like to leave it there. But if you want I'll spend time and list ALL the cancel and patch problems with Matrix sometime when I've got a few extra hours.

Where is the problem with that? If we or the developer feel the game is not doable or for what ever reason then we or the developer are/is entitled to cancel the project at any given time. To put it bluntly a project / a work in progress does not mean it is owed to somebody, or do I get this wrong?

In fact we have cancelled two games lately, two out of alot that we togther with our developers have released. Some projects take longer then anticipated, longer then we actually like ourselves, but again there is no problem at all with that since we do not owe it to somebody when it is still in development. What do you think how many projects get killed each day? What is the problem with that?

Many many people enjoyed it out of the box, the game got superb reviews out of the box. "In shape" is really a matter of perspective and personal preferences here. My personal opinion here, the game has been patched to death because of the over and over demands of certain people, but that does not belong here. Anyway, the game is still beeing supported by us, even after all this time.
Now how many developers or publishers do that, hmm?

Now as for MF, if you feel like that, fine, everybody is entitled to his opinion. Others enjoy the game. But even if your are a client, and the client is king, it does not give you the right to insult individuals, IMHO borderline calumny.

Are you sure you want to get into the fraud situation Marc?

Is Matrix located in Germany?

I did some checking and got 104 messages I had posted. I guess I have 113.
Before FOF they were all but about 10 in the MaxFootball forum (At the least an item for the BBB to look at.). The rest in Pure Sim (none negative).
Any before or 9 missing I don't know about.

Now who is doing what to whose reputation? Slander who?

Since the original purpose of this thread is support-related, i.e. how FOF performs with low memory, I am moving it to the Support sub-forum. Perhaps others who are playing under those circumstances will see it and be able to respond.
