What is more advantageous to a player, quick or detailed combat?

I use the detailed battle myself........I like to watch the action and use the terrain to my benefit. Nothing better than hiding behind a wood line and having the AI send his brigades thru the woods next to mine in column formation.

Detailed, no doubt. You will occasionally manage to capture an enemy brigade in quick, while in detailed you can easily capture half the enemy army...
As the South all my arty pieces (apart from those I start with) are built in the North [:D]
