ASW attack near Batan Island at 47,47

Japanese Ships
SS U-55 (O3) This one looked weird is it a former German U-Boat?

Yep - she sank 64 ships, damaged 5, and captured 2 on 14 war patrols with the Imperial German Navy, most under the command of the same captain. Her most famous victims were Carpathia - the rescue ship made famous by the Titanic disaster, and the hospital ship Rewa.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U-55_(1916) and be sure to scroll to the bottom to see the British Intellegence reports on her, as well as the links.

Cool info thanks man [:)]

127 casualties reported

Probably one of the best raids I've ever seen so far the Connecticut TF sank 6 Japanese merchant ships and the BC Kongo at Taichu, Formosa. The BC Kongo exploded after her Magazine was hit by the BB Georgia. The BC Kongo sank real quick after that.

The BC Kongo exploded after her Magazine was hit by the BB Georgia. The BC Kongo sank real quick after that.

That's hysterical - in my campaign BC Kongo is almost mythical with her crack gunnery, and her ability to both dish it out and take it, then run away before I can sink her. In the past game year and a half, every time I've run into her, even when I have clear numerical superiority, she's come out on top. She's sent about 4-5 modern battleships to the repair yards, and managed to escape every time. At this time she's the most wanted ship in the Japanese fleet.

And you sank her with one hit with a 17-year old pre-dreadnought with only four 12" guns. Such are the fortunes of war...[:)]

Kongo's Yamagita inherited "American" stats - 67 skill, 42 aggressiveness - which puts him at par with most US and British leaders. However, IJN does have better captains.

A good leader can make all the difference. An S-class American sub commanded by O'Kane outperforms 5-6 subs with default captains. IJA's Felixstowe's squadron commanded by Fuchida will rarely miss.

And so on :)

The White fleet has a decent commander right now I forget who but one of the top ones. The BC Kongo Explosion was great especially the fact that a 17-year old pre-dreadnought with 12" guns sank her [:D] The White fleet is gonna need some repairs now though unfortunately so they will be withdrawing from the battlefield again. Alot of my BB's are under repair right now. Well anyway here's a pic of the Georgia and some of her sisters from 1920 enjoy [:)]

Nothing serious just system damage from wear and tear. I don't like them to get too much system damage because they are old ships.

USS S-6 was sunk by a plane off of Wake another sub bites the dust the captain was killed. USS S-6 (SS-111) was a second-group (S-3 or "Government") S-class submarine of the United States Navy. Her keel was laid down on 29 January 1918 by the Portsmouth Navy Yard. She was launched on 23 December 1919 sponsored by Ms. Eleanor Westcott; and commissioned on 17 May 1920 with Lieutenant Commander George B. Junkin in command. Following trials and outfitting, S-6 departed New London, Connecticut on 18 November 1920, and joined other S-boats of Submarine Divisions 12 and 18 (SubDivs 12 and 18) for what was to be — at that time — the longest cruise for American submarines on record. The trip — begun with a rendezvous off Portsmouth, New Hampshire — took them through the Panama Canal, to Pearl Harbor and then to Cavite, Luzon, Philippine Islands. Other submarines had operated out of Cavite prior to this, but they had been transported there on the decks of colliers. The two submarine divisions operated from Cavite over the next three years, from 1 December 1921-29 October 1924. During that time, they frequently visited the Chinese ports at Shanghai, Chefoo, Chinwangtao, Tsingtao, Amoy, and Woosung.

I don't think the USS Buchanan is gonna make it back to Hong Kong its got alot of floatation damage after that 2nd torpedo hit it today. The ROC navy did a raid on Tsingtao and sank 1 Japanese AP. Two other Japanese AP's were sunk by the Oklahoma TF and the British BC TF off of Eastern Formosa. The CV TF planes torpedoed and bombed a Japanese convoy heading to northern Luzon. Here's a map of the current situation I'm gonna try and sink that convoy with the British BC TF because the Oklahoma TF is going back to Hong Kong to refuel. There is one error the Japanese convoy is 4 AK's not 3 AP's [:)]

The President Warren G. Harding has suddenly passed away in California of a heart attack. The new President Calvin Coolidge has vowed to continue the fight against Japanese aggression in Asia. The convoy spotted last turn has been bombed and torpedoed by the CV TF again. A massive offensive in Manila has resulted in bloody losses for no ground as the stalemate continues there.

Quick question - how come Allied TFs are so big? Half the ships don't even make it into the fight :)

Also I noticed you're mixing the main calibers - so your capital ships all start firing at different ranges. How is that working out for you?

I have found that when I used to use smaller TF's almost all my ships would take damage in a fight but now very few ships will take damage. It is probably a bad choice to have these massive TF's because of a loss of bringing more heavy guns to a fight but against the AI its seems to be working [;)] I mix the gun calibers for alot of my TF's because over the course of the campaign I have alot of ships getting repaired. Almost all the modern British BB's have some sort of damage and also most of the modern U.S. BB's have damage as well. Most of them are sitting in Singapore or Hong Kong getting repairs.

> I have found that when I used to use smaller TF's almost all my ships would take damage in a fight but now very few ships will take damage.

Because some ships don't even make it into the firing line. A hint: if the ship's name isn't shown, it's somewhere out in the rear.

> It is probably a bad choice to have these massive TF's because of a loss of bringing more heavy guns to a fight but against the AI its seems to be working [;)] I mix the gun calibers for alot of my TF's because over the course of the campaign I have alot of ships getting repaired.

True - but consider this: a TF with a 14" dreadnought, a 12" dreadnought, and a 10" cruiser will do less damage than a TF with, say, 4 10" cruisers. Your task force leader is always assigned to the best ship present, so when that mixed TF encounters enemy, and 14" shells start flying, your leader is no longer trying to get closer to the enemy, instead remaining at maximum range. So your 12" and 10" guns are doing barely anything. Now, most times it's not noticeable as enemy will try to get closer to you, but say you encountered a troop convoy. Suddenly quantity outweighs quality... :)

> Almost all the modern British BB's have some sort of damage and also most of the modern U.S. BB's have damage as well. Most of them are sitting in Singapore or Hong Kong getting repairs.

A port can repair up to four or five ships a turn. Pick your priorities - shift the rest to Diamond Harbor, Sydney, Oakland, or even Pearl Harbor. Is your AR where your worst needed ships are?
