Finally got around to trying Gold version and I cant seem to get past the loading scenario screen. I can load up the old map version but if I try and use the new version I get the dreaded WWI has stopped working and the game freezes. It will load the sceanario, then it seems to zip right past the map load sequence and once it gets to initil. the scenario bit is when the freeze up happen and the message. I even did a fresh install of original and then Gold version......old maps OK try and use new maps lock up on initializing scenario sequence. Any help would be appreciated.

I understand you have problems only with the new map, right?

Well, verify the following folder contains 6074 BMP files (total 1.26-1.27 GB):

[game dir]\Data\Graph\Map\GoldRegions

and the following one 3037 RGN files:

[game dir]\Data\Dictionary\GoldRegions

If something is wrong, it means the download is corrupted...

I have the same problem as captskillet.
Checked the files Calvinus pointed to, I have 6075 bmp files, don't see having one more than mentioned could cause the problem.

Are you playing the game as PC Administrator? Is the UAC filter disabled? [&:]

Another possible reason could be a corrupted download of the game.

...and once it gets to initil. the scenario bit is when the freeze up happen and the message...

Are all files inside

[game dir]\Data\DB\GoldScenarios

folder and subfolders ok or corrupted?

From what captskillet wrote, it seems the freeze is linked to the initialization of the GoldScenario file, that could be missing or corrupted.

I tried starting the game as administrator, then I get a serial key check failure message.
Will try with UAC disabled.

It's muuuuch better you INSTALL the game being logged as PC Administrator and the UAC filter disabled. [;)]

Great!!! I personally hate UAC filter, that makes me unable to run most of applications on my PC... grrr!

It must have been a bad download Calvinus.........I did a fresh install and then the new Gold update you posted and voila it works. Thanks!
