This my first attempt at Free landing as it is for my oponenet Kingpin.
Turn one gives us some interesting air andsea landings I clipped some picks and as you see the lighter area are so big they do not even fir in the window! See below
This what my turn two start was notice the paras are in safe zones, save the 101 which luclily took few step loses, the Brits landing are just to the right of this pick
I immediatly used sea bombard to reduce forts in carentan, and forced a retreat gaining access to the more open terrian, and using vital air power to interdict movement.
and again t1 interdiction in us zone, taken from the reply notice the front lines, those show "land cut interdiction" ware my paras moved from.. sorry about the dead space still learning to use this stuff
The beggining of t3 sees Beayex evacuated, afree city and my paras ofthe 101 holding Carentan, Interdiction casusing lose of supplys and inability to rapidly meet my force at Carentan/ Beayex sees Kingpin in flight to save air landing Division, as well as 716 and 352. Leah shows up up against my Brits and 12th SS against the Brits in the Bocage, leaving only the stronger infantry South est of the swampos to form a line, and the few weaker penninsular troops to face the entire t1 and t2 invasion forces... some of which swing across and head south. Rains diminish air, a break for Kingpin, and t4 will be mud, as we are using randum weather, I hate knowing too much!!!
I continue to clear the beaches, landing a weaker us div in Omaha and expanding the now linked beaches north to edge of Sword. K counter attacks and luckily gets bad die..
YYYEEEHHH[:D] and I lose none of my all too few Brits.. gets some retreats and takes some steps away. His lines are forming up and I wittle away killing an AA and some weaker units.
Turn four
Germany attacks again, killing none and exposing weaker 21th panzer, my open country counter attacks kill of some steps, and set up up for some real punching in the next few turns I am afraid as he may pullout of hedgerow country and attack my inferior Brits, at least to the SS and his stronger armored divs.
And he suffers my wrath, at least some! I drive back and cost two of three steps of one 21st unit, and he must chose between a counter attack or and orderly withdrawl.
In the Us section pressure mounts as I push several units back, kill another weak unit and have excelent troops and support to flank in the penninsula on both ends of his line .
The battle for St Lo will be tougher as he is commistting his best infantry there, yet the too at these early turns are without as much support as the may want.. several attacks all went well and the next turn, after his turn 5 that I await is a storm dry, go figure, probably get mud clear after, hope so, but my supply lines are FANTASTIC. Facing me in battle for St LO is remnents of Air Landing and his Elite paras, I have 2nd armor, third infantry and either 82 or 101 or both.. and two regular infantry divisions plus artilery.
The key to this start was the proper execution of inland interdiction and getting off the beach FAST. if I had not gotten Carentan, and to be faie it was a given after my drops where successfull, he had to evecuate Omaha, or face the entire force being anhialated.
The German armor was too far to attack in t1 ot t2, attacking and forcing retreats, remember they too need artilery against all but the weakest of units. Notice all these pix are after action pix from the "reviews " screens, so they are a little out of order, one shows the start of turn two and the other beginning on german moves t1.
Please feel free to ask any questions, and Kingpin has stated his intention of adding to this post... so far so good .. FUN INDEX 8.5 !!!
and of course kp attacks , killing two vulnerable brits and I counter and roll a shiitload of 1 and 2's , but regardless those troops on the penninsula are toast.. lots of interdiction and I continue to wittle away taking a step here or there, did over run two isolated german infantry units...
And to cap it off
READ the RULES, I lost one of my prise 82 airborn units that was attempting to link up, because I forgot to dig in, it still was in good shape for bullets but when he was able to attack over and over and over again because the odds at 8-1 where overrun when not dug in... crap.. I would shoot the general in charge, but that is me[:-] and the Colonel has already been made prisonar of war.
I am confident of victory, after all I have only used 6 turns and am well into the inland areas..
OK, my fears of Defeating the King(pin) are justified.. should never ever play a normandy scen as allies with random weather!!!! Mud really kills you, and It ahas now rained three days in a row.. we are both streatched thin, and he remains in a slight point lead although his troops cut off are doomed
