Here is a narrative AAR of the Chef du Pont Scenario from ASL3D's Heroes and Leaders Historical Scenario Pack. The counters have been modded back to HoS icons by Chichin's Counter mod. Bravo to the both of you!!

Turn 1... The point elements in front of Winters, Urban, and Lopez all held up their hands with the signal to stop as they entered the woods. Each spied the same scene...a dirt road with a pair of stone buildings on the other side. Winters went forward and instructed the Scouts to swing right and to get close to the building on the right. They moved out, staying out of sight of any enemy. When they entered the woods and moved close...

....They were spotted and came under fire.

As Urban and Lopez's men move forward and join their point elements, the Scouts come under more fire on their right flank....

Winters orders his point to reinforce the scouts. As they get into the woods to the south, they too come under heavy fire. Squads from Lopez and Urban put fire on the first building. "This place is crawling with krauts!" came the radio message..

"Red 6 Black 4, I got eyes on four positions. We're going to need some help over here" said the Scout PSG. Just then another burst of fire splintered the trees all around Urban's position.

"Keep firing at that building and keep their heads down." ordered Winters..."You 5 come with me." Winters and his group rush towards the woods south of the Scouts. As soon as they meet up with the other men, sniper fire rips into their ranks, pinning a group of soldiers.

The covering fire for Winters move rattles the enemy in the building....Urban yells to his point element "You guys get ready to hit that building..."

Winters rallies the troops that were pinned (Shaken) by enemy fire. There are at least 4 German positions within the southern portion of Chef du Pont and one of them engages the troops that over ran the German forward position.

" Stay in the woods and get your people about 200m east. I need to know if the enemy tries to reinforce. Stay concealed. Don't engage unless you absolutely have to" orders Winters.

Sgt Lopez's Plt rushes the next German position in the town and occupies the building, killing the enemy...Urban advances and joins his troops in the initial German position...

As Lopez's men crash through the door, a burst of fire hits the first few men...The enemy soldiers in the nex room are killed. Lopez secures another building but at a cost...

It wasn't long after the scouts had gotten into position that Winters radio came alive. "Red 6 Black 4..Just saw 20-30 German's moving west but we lost sight of em"..came the spot report. "Roger, hold your position, I need you watch our flank" said Winters.

Just then a group of enemy soldiers rushed out of the buildings to Urban's front as to reinforce the position that was already lost...

The scout private looked across at the wood line across from his position..."Hey Sarge, look..." Black 4 went forward and saw US troops in the woods. Trying not to get shot, he finally got the attention of one of the men. He ran across to the opposite woods and gave Panther 6, the 508th Sct Plt Ldr a quick sitrep and his radio freq.

Red 6 Black 4...we have friendlies coming up the road from the south. They're reporting heavy enemy presence at the west end of the bridge" Then came the crump crump crump of mortar fire.

Winters, Urban and Lopez begin the grim task of clearing the buildings in the center of town....
