Is it just me, or is this game an excellent evolution from the ancient "Panzerbush" series of games???
I think I've waited more than 40years for this! Panzer Blitz was published in 1970;
leading the way to the "Squad Leader" series.

Panzer Blitz, followed by Panzer Leader, followed by Squad Leader, followed by Advanced Squad Leader.
There were a number of attempts to computerize Squad Leader, none of them very successful. Maybe this one will hae better luck.

It's a lot more elegant than ASL and SL.
Scratches the tactical itch with as much tension, at least as much narrative, solid tactical model, but far less rules overhead.
All good games, but with different focus areas.

Are there other games in the franchise in the works?

I know Mark grinds his teeth with the SL/ASL comparisons, but to me they are right on in one key aspect: HoS gives me the same kind of thrill I remember having when I first played Panzerblitz and Squad Leader and thought, "Man this is so freaking cool!" The games are different, but the thrill is the same.

The counters and maps are extremely like ASL's. As are many game concepts.

Any tactical level game set in the same time period will have many of the same mechanics as SL/ASL. If they are the same scale it would be impossible not to.
Good Hunting.

Close Combat was an attempt to model ASL, and I think it is fantastic. Not really turn-based or anything, but I love it.

He has to realize we are not saying it "copied" ASL. If anything, his vision is a completely different spin, just at the same scale. Great game. I hope this PC version is very successful, allowing for much expansion in the future. Kudos.

Yes, my dream is realised - the closest thing to PC Squad Leader! How I fiddled with those stacks of counters, tried to remember all the relevant modifiers, and tore my hair out when the cat decided to walk across the board![:D]

I can’t stop dream about a proper new Redbaricades campaign similar to the one in ASL.
Buying company’s and artillery, also see how your leaders got more experience was awesome.
all this would be possible here without the Rule ex.. ASL cave rule ... 11 pages ....WTF that killed that game for me.
HoS is perfect for me just keep spitting out those real campaign’s and I will pay 100$ if it’s necessary.
Keep up the good work
