Gameplay questions

Post by eisenkopf »

I haven't bought the game yet, but I will certainly do so once I know more about the following items:

1. Map Size: I like the big maps in old PG best, i.e. the Moscow scenarios. Judging from the screenshots, the map size in Operation Barbarossa is variable. Are there big maps like the Moscow ones in PG?

2. Campaign tree: Is there a campaign tree implemented, or are the campaigns linear?

3. AI: How would you rate the AI in comparison to PG?

Thanks for enlightening me!

I only got the game yesterday, but lost 2 of the scenarios I played (one by one move).

1. Yes - big maps, especially in the separate scenarios. I have only played the first 3 scenarios of the campaign in the demo, but I expect the maps to get bigger. It took me over 5 hours to play 2 scenarios once each.

2. It is linear. If you lose, you are fired, and if you have not saved, you have to restart the campaign (btw no saves in the demo).

3. PG was a long time ago, but from my limited experience it is comparable. From what I have seen so far, you are fighting mostly the scenario and the time limit, not the AI. But it is fun and very tense.
