The Infantry Combat Model

I know that we talk more about the new map making editor and show you pictures of redone or added vehicle models. Then we talk about PC4 for improvements to the infantry combat model. With destructible terrain and a full fledged reworking of the orders interface.

But, that doesn't mean that we've completely ignored the infantry combat model for PCO. In fact with the advent of the new grass models we've had to go back, FOR THE LAST TIME, and check the balance of all our scenarios. Because the infantry has been getting some changes added to them as well while we finish up with everything else. There are still changes that we feel need to be made but there are changes that have been made.

Better infantry models (graphics) are being worked on, the combat results model has been adjusted to give more realistic infantry losses, MG fire has been adjusted, anti-tank models and animations have all been either redone or completely added from scratch.

We are pushing as hard as we can in all directions. Now all that remains is to test out the changes and give them to you.

It's actually changes to the infantry combat model with the new resulting LOS from grass height obstructions, and producing demo's and videos that have us where we are at the moment. BUT there are no bugs left on our list to fix. Only MORE AND MORE FEATURES TO ADD! Ah yes, but that's for another day and game.

I hope this helps those of you that were extremely disappointed in the infantry combat system in the first two games of the series feel a bit better about what is coming your way now. The last playtest I did was with a Soviet battalion vs a German company. We must managed to get a Marginal Victory. But not before taking a beating that commander won't soon forget.

See you on a PCO battlefield soon.

Good Hunting.

Forgot to mention the LOS/LOF restrictions that come both with inclement weather and night. Unlike other games PCO won't come with just pitch black, daylight, dusk or dawn. You can put any range of light you want in a scenario. You can match it to either night conditions or inclement weather.

While WWII isn't the worst case time period of the empty battlefield, where what can be seen can be hit and what can be hit can be killed, but it's where it all started. Being in LOS is NOT a good thing. It's not in PCO either.

We continue to strive to improve all aspects of the game including better and better performance for all levels of machines. Our goal is to leave as few machines behind as possible with this update.

Good Hunting.

What was the date? Was it Christmas day, boxing day or New years eve?

These dates are hard coded to allow enemy infantry to play football as was historically the case (they didn't fight all the time).

Don't get me wrong here: I'm very glad for the new game, and thanks for all the hard work. No doubt, even after the Kharkov release, PC could have some brilliant moments, but was extremely bizarre sometimes.

Everything in that screen shot has been changed except the orders phase is still in the game.

Good Hunting.
