Couple quick questions on purchasing...

Post by Grim.Reaper »

Considering purchasing the current version of this game as well as Winter Storm which roughly equates to $65 US dollars. With that in mind and the fact the new game is due out in a few weeks, couple of questions.

1) I saw that once this game comes out, all versions will be bundled into a single product and be the only version available. Will the new bundled version cost just as much, less, or even more than $65?

2) I know that current users will receive a "patch" to freely upgrade the game. However, will there be a way for current customers to get the new bundled version for free versus just the patch? Just thinking it might be cleaner to install from scratch versus patching up an existing version.

Thanks!

The plan is to sell PCO for a lot less than the original $65. PCO will contain all of the PCOWS and PCK content plus all the new units and scenarios and campaigns. So PCO will be a bundle and a whole lot more.

I don't know of another company that has done this so it may be hard to grasp.

Erik is probably in a better position to answer this, but I'm guessing you would probably be a happier customer if you waited for PCO to be released.

thanks

Also the plan for current PCK owners is that you will run an installer for PCO. It will check for an existing install of PCK. If it is there, the install will continue. After you install PCO, you may uninstall PCK.

Owners of OWS only will have to purchase PCO just as they would have had to purchase PCK to get the summer content.

Agreed. Based on this, I'll likely hold off, but quickly becoming a must buy for me. Thanks for the info!

The 9th of May is only 23 days away, I would certainly wait. It will be worth your while.

Erik made a post many months ago that PCO would likely be around $35 (this may have changed since then). PCK is $40. So, you could just get PCK and you can play for the next month and it will only be $5 more.

Except if I were to buy winter storm too, that would add another $25) Seems like the game could be $20-$25 cheaper on May 9th, so going to hold out, plus I would like a complete versions, versus patched.

Just to clarify, you will get a complete version if you buy PCK now and get PCO free later. We aren't Microsoft.

You could play PCK every day from now till May 9 and not miss the snow stuff in OWS.

PCO the game will have fully all content of PC:OWS and PC:K.

PCO the update for PC:K will have fully all content of PC:K.

There is no difference. Whether you get PCO the game or PCO the update they will have the same content.

So just to clarify, PCO is still free for both PCOWS and PCK owners? You guys can be mighty sneaky sometimes...

Guys, sorry for being dense on this :)  Can you review the following and see if what I state is true?

1)  Let's say I buy PCK today.

2)  I play PCK between now and 5/9 when PCO is released.

3)  On 5/9 I download PCO.  This is the part I am still most foggy about.  As a PCK owner, will I be able to download the FULL version of PCO and use my serial # or will I only be able to download a PATCH version?  The reason I would prefer the FULL version is if I ever had to reinstall again, I wouldn't always want to reinstall PCK first and then install PCO.  I know doable, just extra steps :)

I also think since the new price is going to be $34.99, Matrix should go ahead and lower the PCK price to that today, that way it can sort of be a pre-order for people who don't own any version yet :)  Can drum up more business quicker :)

It's simple, if you buy PCK today, you will get PCO FREE when it's released! I don't know if PCO will be cheaper than PCK is today.

The price is shown for PCO in that link you poasted: $34.99 Download / $44.99 Physical.

Since we will get the full version (appears to be the only version), looks like this has become a buy for me now.  I can get used to it before the new version comes out.

The only thing I would add to this is to say that Kharkov and Winterstorm are not the same as Ostfront. Don't base any purchase decisions on Winterstorm or Kharkov. We'll have a demo out for Ostfront before the release.
