new to the game - some questions

Going through the manual I couldn´t find answers so I´m sure someone can help me. The manual seems more to be a "what´s different to old versions" than a manual for someone who never played SPWAW.
1. Playing as Germany I purchased 150mm onboard field guns but I can´t get them to fire. All other artillery is working, but the big ones never seem to work. [&:]
2. Am I stuck with the core units I purchase at the beginning of the campaign for the whole war or do I get some more or can I sell them again?
3. How do I upgrade my core units? I have the first three scenarios of the normal WW2 campaign completed but had never the chance to upgrade my units. There´s this screen after the battle where I can fix my units but where can I upgrade them?
4. While I had decisive victories in Poland my first battle in France ended in a draw although I had taken ALL BUT one flag on the map. I couldn´t take that last flag because there was a bunker on it that I couldn´t crack. All French units were retreating on the map. When I hit the last turn it said DRAW... [&:] How can that be a draw? The French lost 20 times more units than me and lost all but one of their flags but it´s a draw?
Thanks for help!

1. These are 150mm "Infantry Guns" most likely, they are not useable as indirect fire artillery and will not show up in the bombardment menu...they are used to direct fire at units on the map.
there are also some self propelled units that act in the same manner so be advised of that too.
2. you are stuck with the same "amount" of units they cannot be sold and rebought, but you can change them...see #3.
3. you can upgrade or chage your core units after each battle, provided you have enough points. Use the button that says "change" instead of "fix"
4. the victory conditions to achive victories have always kinda sucked in my opinion...I am not sure exactly what they are.....[:(]

#4. The "points differential" has to be met for the "mission type" in order to achieve the various results. For a Marginal Victory, you must have a "points differential" of, I believe, 3:1 against your opponent; for a Decisive Victory, a 5:1 difference. The reverse is also true, where a 1:3 difference gives a Marginal Defeat, and a 1:5 difference gives a Decisive Defeat.
While you may have defeated the French forces overall, if you lost too many of your own units in doing so, your result will not be as good. This is usually what causes most Draw results.

thanks for your reply!
So are those infantry guns really useful? If you cannot use them as indirect fire artillery you have to expose them to enemy fire too often I think. I´ll see.
Regarding the victory conditions, I thought exactly the same. With my result getting only a draw - that really sucks...

Yes they can be effective if kept out of range of enemy small arms....
they have a small amount of HEAT rounds that can also destoy enemy armor.
