Transfering unit to Karachi or Chungking

So this is like a kind of try:
i know much people are now on AE Forum, but maybe someone would give me a help:

this question as already been talked about here, but can't find back the right thread, so i am asking once more:

- How do you transfer (not by ships, but merely by appearence of reinforcement) units to Karachi (South East Asia) or Chungking (China Command) ?
I seem to remenber that you should put a unit in SanFrancisco, change HQ, and then ?
Should the unit be disbanded? How ? Should i wait for the unit to appear on the "reinforcement track" in 60 days ? In how many time will it show on this track ?
Any information would be welcome. Thanks

Edit: this is a Stock Witp game.

I have never tried Karachi. There was a thread about that on this forum about a year ago. You can move up to 8 LCU's from San Fran to Chungking by changing their command to China. You will see them appear on the reinforcement screen for arrival in 60 days. This might also work for Karachi, I just dont know. You can always save a game, try it and see what happens.

Yes - you just change the command to SE Asia (for Karachi) or China Command (for Chungking)...

Be aware that this can be glitchy... the first unit i tried with this went find... the second unit has gone off into Never-Never land with a loop... maybe it will break out of the loop in time... it takes 60 days to go around the Cape of Good Hope to Karachi/Aden (in CHS)... when the unit is scheduled to show up, it has gone back into the queue again and was scheduled to show up in another 60 days... i am not holding my breath.

Hmm, following your advice i gave a try today. But the LCU is still in SanFrancisco, and not showing in the queue track of the reinforcement.
Also i have a air squadron shedulde for SouthEast Asia wich appear in San Francisco, and it is still here.
So obviously, i miss something else to do , no ?

Hey Robert, nice to see you around [:)].
Well, as i just wrote to Khyberbill, it don't seem to work.( it is a Stock Witp, not a CHS, i don't know if it make an important change).

Guys, should i end the turn and see next turn if the unit disapear from SF to appear in the queue for Karachi or Chungking ?
I am a bit afraid of this: if nothing happen, paying thousand of PP for a LCU that i still have to ship round the world would be expensive....
If someone else have an idea ??? [&:]

And anyway, thanks for the input to both Bob and Bill

You should change command, then next turn see it in the ground reinforcement queue to arrive in 60 days... this is for LCUs - doesn't work reliably (or at all with) with air units.

Yes, having 1000 PPs vanish is a pain, and having the unit vanish as well is even more of a pain. [:@]

Question: If you can move a unit from San Francisco to Chungking, why couldn't you move a unit from Chungking to San Francisco?

Might cost PPs (which are cheap for Chinese units), but why couldn't you "mail" a depleted Chinese unit to San Fran, load it up with replacements and supplies, then "mail" it back?

This seems gamey, but asking if it's possible.

i've never seen it done, but if you want to try it, then i would be interested in the results... not much call to switch units from unrestricted commands back to restricted ones, though.
