Updater Problem

I'm having a problem with the updater. I'm able to launch it successfully, it sees there is a new update, but fails trying to create the handle and is unable to download the file. The updater itself has downloaded and updated itself just fine. Just keeps failing when trying to download the game update. I have the Matrix version ... no Steam activation.

Hmmm ... think it's my virus scanner causing the problem as this is all updaters for my various Matrix titles. McAfee must have changed something in a recent update because it has been working in the past. Guess I will just stick to the manual process.

I have been having the same problem with all my Matrix/Slitherine titles in recent months. They used to auto-update just fine, but not any more. I am talking about non-steam versions, and I am using Windows 8.1 with McAfee protection.

Any idea what's going on? This is very irritating.

Its definitely the firewall blocking the FTP connection. Just cant seem to get it to allow it [:@]

Guys, the problem is not on our server side, it has to be something on the client side or in between us blocking you. Anti-virus/security software is the most common culprit.

Thanks Erik. I know it's McAfee ... just started happening after a recent update. Will post here if I find a solution.

The trouble with McAfee is that there seems no way to temporarily turn it off!

It's a bit like Skynet, from 'The Terminator' films. [:)]

If you disable the firewall, everything works fine. I don't like doing that even for the update process.

I don't mind the default blocking ... just don't know why its so dang hard to put in an exception!!! [:@]

I'll give that a go next time around - sounds like it could be fun! [:)]
