How do I convert native units to my side?

How do I convert native units to my side?

I have build a unit with the Xenomorph Pheropod device. How do I use it? just moving unto a hex containing an alien unit attacks it.

How many native lifeforms you can capture is dependant on your tech. the number is displayed in the upper left. To capture you simply attack it with a unit with the capture device. If you defeat it it's yours. Early game you can only capture a couple. As the game goes on this number increases.
