FYI, Steve Butts of IGN has a nice preview of UFO: ET (with 24 screenshots) up here:

Sounds good. Does mention about gameplay being very similar to XCOM defence. Well every UFO game thats been released always has players pining for it to be like XCOM defence. Looks like its here. However now I notice that they are making comments about it being based on a 15 year old gameplay.  CAnt win.

The good thing I see about MAtrix having this game is it may introduce new players to wargaming and games like COTA and other superb wargames.

I like how they show the interceptor's shooting down the UFO's...nice change from X-Com. Hey, if this is even  close to X-Com I'll be in heaven. Good gameplay never get's old. The only thing I see so far that could be changed is the team member pictures...I think some are supposed to be clones or something but the portraits are a little weird looking.

You could say exactly the same thing about every FPS and RTS game on the market.

Yep, pretty much - most works are derivate, many largely so.

I like the fact you can build up your commandos how you want to this time. That should be a nice addition. And maybe with better graphics, it won't be a 'Wannabe Nazi' squad rolling off the ramp every time you land the transport. It always amused me that, while in the loadup screen you had troops with brown hair, some were black...once you got on to the Tactical Map, everyone was blonde haired (and presumably blue eyed).[:)]

To be fair they became red-headed "Wannabe Nazis" when they were wearing personal armor.

That's right! I had completely forgotten about that! That was always a bizarre little 'feature'.
