Release Date?

Post by sage »

When is release going to be? I know I won't get a precise date, but is it more like days, weeks or months out?

The first time I ever demo'd xcom: earth defense for a friend, my guys got off the shuttle, and an alien immediately tossed a perfect grenade throw right into the middle of the squad. It killed every one except one guy. He dropped his gun and then ran back onto the shuttle in a panic.

I want to do that again. :=)

Matrix has stated April 16th as the release date, see the info in the Demo thread.

That only works if you have vehicles. I think this was like the first landing of the game.

I can still remember a battle. My troops went in against a battleship. After a few turns explosions everywhere. Most of my squad was dead but a couple were stuned/wounded and only one guy unharmed.

He hunkered down behind cover and killed several aliens as they came into the open. Scrambling about as occasion alowed, he collected medikits and managed to revive a couple troops. Other aliens came out and were killed. eventually after an eternity two soldiers were able to enter the BB and kill the last aliens.

An epic battle.

Yeah, I haven't played for however long it was (13 years? 14?), but I can remember those battles, and moments in battles where I got my a** kicked the best. I can remember a lot of them -- some of them very clearly. That's a little pathetic actually. :=)

My favorite way of playing was on Superhuman, and only human technology. Casualty rates were... high.

Oh, it bears on release dates, but I saw this thread on the official board: http://www.ufo-extraterrestrials.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1283&start=15&sid=2d1b115c2fcf1f723295f0c0a398ac9e

It was a mail from the developers stating that the RTM build had been given to the developers (i.e. Matrix, presumably).

If that post is true(which is iffy)..no way by the 16th then. I didn't think so anyways since we've heard no real gold announcement. It takes time even after that. I just want them to get it right...fix bugs first!!!

As an FYI, the main page site has a sidebar which also states, "April 16" release.

With luck, that's still the POR, and we'll see a Matrix download on that date.

3.5GB Download!?!?

This is one game I really want to play. I still to this day play XCOM on DOSBox.

I'm just praying it makes the release date.

Hm, I believe it's over a gig, but nowhere near 3.5 IIRC.

The installer is around 1 GB and it needs around 2.6 GB free hard disk space when installed.

Ah ha! That means Matrix has it! And if Matrix has it, and hasn't yet released it to us, it must be a *conspiracy*. :=)

Any chance in getting it before the weekend?
