Still slogging on GalacticOrigins, thats great.This is some game.I've finished it on Easy and am now on Hard.Now that u are using the mod is it really that much harder than Vanilla?
Have u downloaded the patch.I did for the Hard game i'm playing [on vanilla}now.They added some good features unfortunately not enough of them.However interfacing is much easier in the battle side of game and u can sell what u build for what it cost u to make it,which is better than loosing money.Also heavy laser ammo costs way less to make now--$600 i believe.

Keep up the good fight i enjoy reading your posts.....You and HardSarge should be writing SciFi books.

Oh yeah in my easy game i never built any fighters higher than the Exterminator am i going to have to go higher in the Hard game.Course i had 4 or 5 Ext. and 5Ltn. and some Raptors all with Particle everything.I could knock down anything that flew into our airspace.

Love this game its almost as good as x-com.Certinately as addicting.....

I use the old non-patched game with Bman's mod BEFORE 2.00. Seems to work for now. I may mess with the mods and patches after the current game.
 
I've been busy since my last post and have not gone any missions :(
 
In my Hard game, BB knock a Raptor dead with one shot ... sometimes two. The EXT cannot stand up to the BB. Only fully outfitted higher end INT with particle shields and great weapons seem to hang, and even then I have to be close enough to abort and run to base or I lose a nifty high-end -expensive- INT.

It should not be too bad for you, since I never built the Ad Lab and research was slow. Right now, I have to build the spaceship parts and go on Final Mission, but that will take a few months. I have all the warrior weapons and am finishing up enough guns, ammo and mind shields.
 
The hardest time was in early era 2, against mechies. With only lasers, they can be a tad tougher.
 
East mode = aliens have .8 health
Normal mode = aliens have 1.0 health
Hard mode = aliens have 1.2 health (which is a few extra hits depending)

Fourth Quarter 2111 (Oct/Nov/Dec)

Missions 12/9/5 (262 for the war)

The aliens really put on the pressure this quarter. Missions were: 5 scout, 4 fighter, 4 CA, 2 BC, 1 BB, 6 base recovery, and 4 Terror. Had to miss a few shotdown sites due to lack of soldiers at the ready. Shot down about twice as many as the missions, and only had a crack at 1 of the BB. Some missions were easy era aliens, but half were top dogs again. No one was promoted since most soldiers require 3100 xp now for the next promo.

Researched commanders since that is all that is left. I have a lot of alien hardware in stock, I think about 20 million, since I only sell enough to keep funds about 2 million. Last quarter I started all the major components necessary for the Final set of Missions, so there is nothing left to pay for. I have not finished production on any of them, so they will all be built early next year in less than 60 days. (Except the generator, which will be last).

I guess the aliens know what is up and therefore they really came hard this quarter, especially in Oct. Had 12 missions that month and had to skip a few, including 2 downed BC. It was a marathon, they just kept coming, taking over bases left and right and more than a few Terror missions. Luckily, I did not lose any interceptors but it was close a few times.

DEC = Major Joe Mama with 7

(I changed the ranks, see an earlier post a few back, above)

All I have to do now is finish researching commanders. Since I am now researching commanders fast, the aliens have not mined any materials ... they have not had the time, I guess. Oh, and I stop most missions, well, the ones I see. Still, there a lot of contacts (over 550 for the war).

FINAL MISSIONS
 
Went on the Final set of Missions in March 2112. Lost one tank on a base defense. Had plenty of ammo and extra advanced healing kits. Other than the 1 tank lost, no other casualties. (I had left the second tank at base when going to the starport.)
 
The very last mission was very long. The enemy was not very strong, however, the last base was large and I could not find all of the doors easily. So, we blew up everything (after handling most of the aliens). Eventually, made it into a semi-'secret' area and won the game. I had expected a slightly better ending video, but after 280+ missions ... wow.
