[Rel]New Kursk Scenario/Map

It's not exactly new map. I reworked the first map I made using MapMaker (Kursk_S1) and it returns as Kursk_s4. (I'm getting these in order they will appear in a future campaign.) This is the battle for the Stalinsk Collective farm near Prokhorovka. Eventually a second battle will be fought here, a Soviet counter attack the next day.

And how would somebody interested in these maps load them into the program?

Just putting them on the site doesn't tell how to put them to use.

Is there a specific location that they must go?

Each file has a text read_me file that has the instructions. Basically copy the files to the right place and play the scenario on the new map.

And for those that say JGMSE ready, you can look at the zip file structure and after a certain levell it shows where in the PCK directory structure (it mimics the PCK file structure) so even if you dont use JGSME you can still put the files in the correct PCK directories.

I'll give 2-part answer -

Yes - you can use them in Random Battle generator, but you need to make a template. This is a file you create using the scenario editor. It's described on page 112 of the manual. However, it's a tedius task if you want a good template. (worth it in my opinion).

Perhaps Mobius could create a template? Not sure what version of MM you used, but creating a template with latest version of MM is pretty quick.

Killroy, let me know if you're interested in creating a template I'll be glad to point out some specific posts (Mraah I think created a startup template that saves some time) that might help. Or if you'd rather not, let me know.

Hi Rick and thanks for the response. What I've been looking for here are more 'templates' to add to the random battle and random campaign generator. I can never have enough really. I was hoping there was somewhere I could go and just download new templates as I'm not very good with editors and really don't have the time. I think it would be great if map makers would make templates as well or in the future the game would make some random generated templates I could use.

I agree 100%! Hopefully the next patch will include Stridors MapMaker. His latest version had a template generator, so for new maps made with it, creating templates will go much faster (minutes instead of hours).

But, unfortunately, it isn't totally backward compatible, and I'm not sure when the next patch will be coming out. In any event, when I do a map, I'll do a template as well. (I think I included one both Balta and Peipsk, and i'll certainly have one for Hill 621). And I think Mraah did one a while back for one of the current maps that didn't include one.

I put together a listing of all equipment and game mods EXCEPT for Maps and Scenarios. It's a zip file of a PDF document. The doc includes description of mod and a hot link to the precise post that the mod download is attached to, to make it easy to find the download file. I plan to keep it up to date.

I'm planning to do one like this for maps, scenarios, and campaigns as well, but I've gotten side-tracked on some other projects (and it didn't look like many people were checking the other listing anyway)

For Balta: fb.asp?m=1789386
For Piepsk Map and Template: fb.asp?m=1953415
For Peipsk Scenario: fb.asp?m=1944374

Someone reported a problem with one of the above not working, but they didn't give details. If you have a problem, please let me know so I can fix.

Hill 621 is in progress (map is almost, but not quite) done. Scenario should go quick once thats done.
