[REL] Sherman M4A3 75mm
From stock XML and Mraah's sherman M4A2 76mm model.
I could keep working this to death as a learning tool but cmon already.
Done (for now).
.New animations.
.New Textures, from orig. (more olivey; more drabby.)
.Modded model, from orig: 75mm gun, turret shape; many faces remapped.
(Plus tred model mirror fixes below.)
I Fixed:
-one side had no alligator teeth on tred (needed to be mirrored)
(also 'de-synced' tred with other tred)
-"material" lit according to Stridor
(Some of those could be applied to M4A2 original.)

Here is the Sherman ZIP.
Both the XML file and folder go in the PzC:K master/DATA/armouredunits folder. STOCK M4A3 XML should be eliminated.
(Note the low angle screens above are achieved through replay speed of .01 [slowest])

Spellir74,
That's an interesting variant of the M4 [:)].
I didn't realize it had so many broken parts.
You know, last year when I was building the M4A2, I first starting building the M4A3 (75) W ... I still have the old turret, albeit untextured, unscaled and quite the polygon hog ...

Oh I didn't know you had a WIP going. Especially an accurate one.
Yes my reworking of your M4A2 to an A3 is an "interesting A3 variant" [:)]. Shermans get very diversified; And I know nothing about them.
My A3 here is really meant to be better stop gap than using the orig A2 as A3. It served as a good learning puzzle too.
I eliminated the travel gun carriage (whatever it's called) and added impressions of glacis view armour (whatever they're called), along with clipping off the turret rear and puffing out the turret a bit.
---------------
As for the tred V grips... Aren't they upside down on yours there. I admit I did my entire A3 model from memory --no images at all.
Some of the orig's lighting has light on the shadow side and shadow on the lit side.
Lighting is my least understood aspect of modeling.
-----
I like my skins here though.

You can use my textures above (yours reworked) and map the new model's faces to it. I will then quietly withdraw my improper A3. (But until then mine makes an attractive, in its own way, stop gap.)

Well, it's no longer a WIP ... more like "stopped project" when I realized they used the M4A2 (76) ... at which point I removed the 75 turret and replaced it with the 76 turret.
The tread "V" grips are right ... goto this link, view the photo's/info ...

The lighting issue on my M4A2 was always a problem. To fix it you'd have to put the entire model into one "smoothing group", or take the parts and make their own smoothing group.
If you want my old turret let me know .... I can fix it up and add the copula from the 76 turret ... unless you want to continue to do all the mesh changes. Again, it's not to scale and untextured so you'll have to import over the body and twiddle the scale.

I see.
I fixed and replaced the zip above.
I flipped the tred texture dds's back to orig; and the track's ground imprint too.
-----------
As for Russians using 76mm [only], I heard they got the 75s and upped some to 76mm on their own.

Spellir74,
I'll PM you a new 75mm turret in MS3D format ... also, I'll attach an old olive-drab TGA that I made, the turret is UV "slapped" (not perfect) but you get the idea. Again, it's not scaled so you'll have to shrink the whole thing [;)]. Please, feel free to tweak. If you want to play with textures I can find some old base textures (TGA) from my project ... the olive drab one I'm sending you was one of the variants.
Below is a screenshot from MS3D of the turret ... (already mirrored correctly ... left/right ... but I think it needs mirroring front/back)
EDIT : The radio mast cylinder in back was on wrong side ... the turret I'm sending you has it on the correct side.

Missed your post.
You mean recoil etc?
No.
I will when I finish other things in the pipeline.

I am confused on the turret. Did you get or use Mraah's turret or is yours OK?
I also need a Easy 8 and Jumbo for Patton to face the Russkies, lol

I have Mraah's. Might use it(after "adjustments") when I do recoils soon. `Might not.
