New Scenarios

Post by Johnus »

The announcement at patch issue describes two (2) new scenarios issued with the patch, Gamble and Scramble and Bir el Gubi. Was the Sidi Rezegh scenario already in the game ?? I am a relative newbie with respect to the game, but I am surprised I didn't notice this scenario before.

Sidi Rezegh is a brand new scenario introduced with Patch 3. Probably just an oversight why Matrix left it off their announcement.

And I might add a really good one too. The open end/desert nature of this one is challenging. There is not such a specific front line so it really requires some different thinking. Thanks for doing this one.

Thanks Deerslayer. I was origionally going to produce a generic NA situation from which player's could develop their own stuff... but that would have been too easy.

So I made it Historical as possible, which was tough because the Afrikakorps kept exiting the Sidi Rezegh battlefield during the night and re-appearing in the morning. That's why 15. Pz appears on D2 even though they did engage the british tank screen on D1.

The DAK and XXX Corps OOB's should be pretty accurate, being based on DAK shipment dates and a lot of obscure but well documented research. At company level it's probably one of the most detailed OOB available for any North Africa 1941 wargame (uh oh, now I've set myself up...)[:D]

I'm glad the community is enjoying these scenarios. I'm planning on releasing the large map I created that covers the Crusader battlefield from Bir el Gubi to Gambut airfield - so look for that when I upload the modified NA scenarios.

Note that the Gubi map was created from an old NA DDT beta. That battlefield is fairly featureless so I left it as is. The Sidi-Rezegh and the large map mentioned above is a total redo based on some WW2 period topo. This area needed to be re-worked because of the attention to detail needed for the escarpment along the Trigh Capuzzo.

I'd love to see someone do a Battleaxe scenario showing the Reverend Bach's stand at Halfaya. The Indian Division can be re-created with the new Commonwealth forces that are include with the estabs (another new feature Matrix forgot to mention)[8D]
