Ammunition re-supply

Firstly - what a brilliant game. I bought this some months ago and had no time to look it over properly. Utterly superb. Looking forward to the next installment.

I have encountered a problem with some of my paratroopers (pioneeers) getting 7.62mm ammunition in their re-supply. Plenty of 9mm - but no 7.62mm? The unit is in supply, and is getting supplies (although on the first day their supply was interrupted).

Is this a computer glitch or has the quartermaster forgotten to add a few boxes of 7.62mm to their supply run?

As most of the men in the unit are rifle armed, it is causing me some anxiety...

7th Sommersets,

Welcome.

Did you check the unit's equipment list to see if it still had any weapons requiring the 7.62 mm ammo? If there isn't any, then no ammo of that type will be added on resupply. If there are some weapons, then it may be that they did get some reupply but have expended it already. Units will generally open up first with their long range MGs and they use that calibre. 9mm is for short range SMGs. If the enemy isn't engaged at short range then the unit masy still have this ammo on hand while running out of the 7.62.

BTW just to head off any pedantic replies from the grognards here, I think you will find that the calibre used by the German para units for their rifles and MGS is 7.92mm. 7.62 is a calibre used in more modern weapons like the GPMG, SLRs etc.

Arjuna,

Many thanks for the prompt reply.

I will keep an eye on the pioneer unit affected and see whether their 7.92mm ammunition supplies go up. The unit in question had just over 70 riflemen left (using 7.92mm?) and should have received ammunition. All of the units around it have reasonable supplies of 7.92mm - the lowest being 500+ - most having many thousands.

My concern for this unit is/was that they only have a handful of smg armed men shown (with plenty of ammunition for these) - but as you say - nothing for longer range. If all else fails, I will hide them in a wood/village where the smg's will be more effective.

Regards,

Brendon.
