Equipment count discrepancies?

Viewing the AAR for tut #1, I notice that several of the German 'general' tabs indicate more guns than are present in the E&S screen.

For example the sole survivors at 18:01 D2 are elements of I.54 FlaK coy:
Gen tab:
37 pers
10 non-AFV
1 gun

E&S tab:
10 3t truck
34 KAR 98
2 MP40
1 MG34

The 13th IG coy Inf Regt 433 also tends to show one more tube in the summary than is present in E&S at D2 18:01. The mortars and AT batteries seem to show the same values in both places.

Are these enemy intel reports or friendly units?

Yes, but the 'actual' state at the end of play. The values of E&S and summary should still match though, even if the unit is misidentified, and equipment holdings are incomplete, I would have thought?

More -

There seems to be a possible error with the number of eliminated guns also - A recent scenario had 38 'guns' in the German force, which after 36 hours was down to only a single 8cm mortar. The loss reported was 36 guns though - perhaps this missing gun was in a disbanded unit and was culled as there was no other system of this type in the receiving unit? If so this makes sense, from a functional POV, but it is unintentionally misleading and is incomplete (even after the elimination of FOW in the AAR).

Worse, I found that during the AAR I am unable to return to a correct version of a saved game - sometimes this is due to the elimination of all on-map units (either by friendly exit, or by destruction of enemy forces) in both cases the saved game cannot be reloaded even though the scenario is in the AAR/endgame state. However, more troubling is the apparent disappearance of a number of units (6 out of 10 in the recent AAR) that were in poor morale and IMO near surrender as they were within the footprint of my assaulting Brigade - none of the killed units were clickable, and these 6 OPFOR units were not present on the AAR review map. They were of course present (and/or functional) during AAR review immediately following the conclusion of the mission, and the fault only relates to returning to analyse the aftermath.

Are you examining your forces are those of the AI?

Well, both.

However the errors probably only arise in the actual full-intel strengths of the enemy forces. The absence of entire enemy units from the subsequently loaded scenario is double-plus-ungood though... I suspect it is only arising in the AAR/mission end state saves, but it would be very serious if it could arise elsewhen.

Look at the end state image:

Image

The four units within the extended footprint of my brigade are not present when this AAR is reloaded for a second look - 3.433, 5.433, 6.433, 7.433  (427 men) (Also possibly 8.433 Mor Pl, but I am unsure off the top of my head whether this is culled - 17 men, 1 8cm mortar)
The original end-state had six units within this "Rhodista quadrilateral" which vanished on a second inspection so the end-state of the AAR had to use a second run from within the last hour to obtain the consistent AAR and unit-state images.

While mentioning units not visible in the end-state, it would be really nice to have access in the AAR to the General and E&S for units that successfully advanced or withdrew from the map, both for player and AI units. Currently they appear to be culled from the OB and only get a brief mention as 'own-side' APERS/ARM/BOMB points exited for the victory location.

I do of course concede that yes isn't a productive answer to an either/or question <doh!>

I can only blame an extended bout of flu/chest infections lack of adequate sleep and the resulting sluggishness of thought...
