What does A Coy 2/4 Au Inf Bn mean? I know its A Company but is it the 4th Inf battalion or the 2nd? And what is then the other number? Iam German and I know the German system but the ANZAC system is really confusing to me. [&:]

I thought it was A coy, 4th Battalion, 2nd Regiment. This is then brigaded into 19th Brigade, along with other battalions. In the tutorials, and many of the historical scenarios, one of these is 2/8 Inf Bn, which would be 8th Battalion, 2nd Regiment, depending on brigade strength there may be anything from 2 to 4 battalions grouped into Brigade.

So, your second example is the 5th bty, 3rd Regt, RAA (WW2-era)?

[:)] yes I agree. It's just an historical quirk. As an interesting aside many of the WW1 or First AIF units paraded and farewelled the 2nd AIF units of the same name as they shipped out in 1939 and 1940. I might add that since WW2 they have dropped the "2nd" or AIF prefix, thankfully. [:)]

Thx for the clarification. This was really driving me nuts as I always want to know whom I up against or which exact forces Iam commanding. Of course I was too lazy to have look in the manual [:D]
