Shortest House Rules Ever!

Post by bradk »

I've read a lot of house rules going back to the days of the pacwar mailing list. Detail and detail and more detail.

Shortest house rules EVER!

-------

Nations, HQs, and services put their own interests first. They may assist others when their own interests are secure or when defeat of another would have a serious negative effect on their own interests.

The game restricts or prevents some implausible activites but many remain within game capability. Players will not take advantage of simulation deficiencies.

Alternative strategies acceptable and desired. Players should avoid alternative strategies that have a decisive potential gain, but low probability of gain, and where failure is decisive. In other words, don't gamble everything on long odds.

------

There! No IJ invasion attempts of Los Angeles staged from Eniweitok in Feb 42. IJA looks west, IJN looks east, and they cooperate only in the middle.

No stripping of Australia of LCUs for an early offensive in US interests. No British invasion of the Philippines. No stripping of Australia of LCUs for an early offensive in US interests. No US airgroups flying Spitfires. No sailing into Japanese typhoons. Only actual typhoons, and then only if Halsey is in charge. <G>

Personally, I wouldn't dream of diverting precious Spitfires -- their production rate is too low as it is. But what about Commonwealth units flying U.S. aircraft? It actually happened, after all.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Its the stuff that didn't happen and couldn't have happened that bothers me. No game can cover all the cans and can'ts. Some of its up the players.

OTOH, at some point I figure I'll play a free for all anything the game will allow goes with someone. I like a bit of variety! <G>
