I am trying to change the ironclad riverboat slot to use as an ocean going unit (wanting to create ocean going destroyers using this unit slot). How can I make them sea worthy and not bound to river travel?

That won't be possible. However, if you're not using them for something else, you could use the Battleship, Cruiser or Torpedo Boat slots. All of them are ocean-capable and aren't used in the default campaigns.

Thanks for the feedback. All slots are used. I will have to figure out a different solution then.
