I don't know if this is WAD, I do have two opponents, but I've had invasion attempts on Sardinia two turns in a row. Pretty much the same battle both times too. I'm wondering if this is a bug?

Due to how battle generation works it's likely WAD. When you say same battle both times it was generated what do you mean exactly? Were the ship lists exactly the same? Were the spawning points of the ships exactly the same? Who were your opponents in each battle?

The ships were different, at least for me, and presumably for my opponents, because the ships that had been shot up the last time weren't there. The spawn points appear to have been the same. My opponents were France and Italy, and I believe I saw ships from both countries in both battles. Weather conditions and time of start were different.

It happened subsequently with two "cruiser battles" involving most of my Mediterranean fleet off Taranto. I cntl-alt-del out of the second one and got a different battle after that. Hasn't happened since. I suspect it of being an artifact of being at war with two countries at the same time.

Also, the locations of enemy minefields were different. I was carefully avoiding where my ships had hit mines the last time, and hey! there were mines over here now.

Agreed, it does appear to happen, from time to time, that the game gets into a 'loop' with battle generation.

It seems more likely to happen if the game has been open a long time and can be 'cured' by closing and reopening the game.

Doesn't seem to be a critical issue, but we will take a look at this.

On that battle I gave you in the tech support forum, with the KE intercepting the Russian raider in the North Sea even though the airbases that were active were all in the Baltic; guess what battle I got the next turn when I loaded up the game again. Try it yourself and see if you get the same battle two turns in a row.
