Something wrong with rebuilding engines

I just did a rebuild on the Fulmine class DDs in this game. I did a machinery replacement, but didn't change their speed. When you look at the "ships under construction" tab, you will see that this has not resolved the decreases in speed that some of the ships had experienced because of their older engines.

Update: tried again and increased their speed in rebuild and they now have the higher speed, except the guys with a reduction of one knot from before still have that reduction. So the issue is that rebuild is not clearing that reduction. Maybe it isn't taking into account the date of the rebuild in the obsolescence calculation?

What is the function of Obsoletedate in the .bcs file? Could I change this to eliminate this problem?

Note also the two rebuilt Marco Polos have the same problem. They should go at 27 knots based on a (very expensive) rebuild a few years ago, but they are still suffering from the same level of obsolescence as their non rebuilt class mates.

Thanks, will put this save up for internal testing.

Would the problem go away if I messed with the Obsoletedate number in the .bcs file?

So no engine rebuilds until you get this fixed, I guess?

From Fredrik: "Known issue in the beta - fixed since a couple of internal beta versions."
So the next public beta will resolve this...expect it in a few days I think.

Outstanding, thank you very much! I was really concerned this was going to kill my otherwise pretty happy ongoing game.

Any sign of that new beta? I'm playing along but lots of my ships need engine rebuilds now. I'm hesitant to do it because I wonder if the fix will work retroactively. I don't want to scrap all those expensive ships after only ten years in service, though.

The holidays have slowed things down a bit, still catching up...

Manual fix for this problem. Open up your RTWGamex.bcs file and search for your ships by name. There are two variables you have to change: EAM and Shipengineyear. You have to manually set Shipengineyear to the correct year for your engine rebuilds and then set EAM to 0. I tried just setting EAM to 0 and it worked for a bit but they became obsolete again very quickly. This unfortunately doesn't fix the AI controlled ships; I just did a global replace for EAM=-1 or -2 to EAM=0 for the AI but as I say I think they deteriorated again very quickly. Don't know if the AI regularly fixes the engines on their ships?

I didn't see this bug in the changelog? Or maybe I didn't understand.

Not all changes are documented

I can confirm that I did an engine rebuild and engineyear has been updated correctly. Earlier rebuilds that I did and hadn't updated manually were not corrected, though. Would be hard to do automatically, I guess.
