The game does not start

Post by Quivis »

I installed the game, the game takes me to the Armored Brigade II Settings screen where I can choose windowed or full screen mode, but when I click "Play Game" nothing happens and nothing helps.

So you have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, that should be good.

First, have the latest video card drivers. Then make sure that the game uses the dedicated graphics and not integrated graphics, even though for some models of NVIDIA it should be automatic now. Follow these steps:
  1. From Start Icon, type "Graphics Settings" and Click the results from System Settings.
  2. Click Desktop App.
  3. Browse your application. If your application is not on the list, you will need to browse for the folder where the .exe file is located.
  4. Click on the application name/icon.
  5. Click Options.
  6. Set the application to your preferred GPU.
  7. Click save.

Unfortunately, it didn't help :(

At the moment I don't have other solutions. In the Beta we had at least one tester reporting that he couldn't get past the launcher, it doesn't seem very common. Usually I suspect integrated graphics or AMD to be the cause, but apparently here they are not.

If you’re using a non-alphabetic system locale (e.g., Korean, Japanese, Chinese), changing it might solve the issue.

I had the same problem, and switching my system locale to English or enabling Unicode in the locale settings fixed it for me.

Close :)

This may be useful to someone in the future, so I just wanted to let you know that I was able to get the game working.

The issue was caused by using a non-English character in my user folder name, where some of the game files are installed, i.e. C:\Users\<username>\Documents\File Folder. To make the game work, I had to move the entire Documents folder to a different drive, ensuring that it no longer used the <username> folder with the non-English character.

Does it absolutely need Windows 10, or could I run it on windows 8.1?

What non-ASCII characters were there in the folder name that didn't work?

Not officially supported, but the game should run on a 32bit Windows 7.

Hello, I have the same problem. I think it's also due to a non-English letter in the user folder. it is the letter Ö

I'm from Germany

Suggested solutions such as: Updating the graphics driver and assigning the graphics card didn't work.

I hope that it is possible to solve this problem with a patch because I cannot rename the user folder.

It's sad because the predecessor, Armored Brigade, ran without any problems.

my system specifications are

AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX 3.30GHz
32GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
SSD 1TB

Unlike AB1, AB2 writes to the Documents folder instead of the game installation folder. I've made some changes to how the folder path text strings are handled, and these changes will be in an upcoming patch. Not sure if it will improve this, please try the patch when it's out and report here if it changes or doesn't change anything.

I get a message that vcruntime140.dll is missing,
It tells me to download the game again, but that doesn't help either.
Vcruntime140.dll is in the Armored Brigade II folder on my computer.
