Can someone help me get a campaign started

Post by robertclemmons »

Hello, I just purchased and installed Strategic Command War in the pacific. HOwever I cannot get any campaign to choose from. The menu is completely blank. I have verified the installation and still can't get it to function.

I had to crop the screenshot down to get it to fit.

I had a similar report and it turned out to be anti-virus software preventing the campaigns from showing, so if you can whitelist the game in your antivirus software then hopefully you will be able to play.

Please confirm too that that does resolve it.

I have the same problem as the OP and allowing the game, the editor, and the launcher through the firewall did nothing to solve the problem. I only have this problem with War in the Pacific. The other two, War in Europe and World at War work fine. This is very aggravating.

Since the previous posts, I've not heard of anyone else having this issue, so I'm afraid I don't have any other possible solutions to it.

If it's definitely not antivirus causing this - and that can be verified by whitelisting the game - then the best thing to do will be to contact support@matrixgames.com as they may be able to help.

Just in case this might apply, and this might be a translation issue, but as firewall and anti-virus are two different things, and if you did only try with your firewall, could you try the same whitelisting process with your anti-virus software?

Hey! Thanks for the advice. I just fixed the problem by pure chance. It had nothing to do with the Windows firewall or anti-virus. I had freed those already and just gave up. I also gave up on reducing resolution and text size since both SC: WIE and SC: WAW both worked fine. Then this happened:

A pop-up on my desktop said I had a bunch of notices, so I decided to see what they were since I had notifications set on "Do not Disturb". One was about a program that was attempting to make changes to a protected folder. I clicked on it, and it led me into the bowels of the settings somewhere and it was the game trying to change a folder or make changes within it. I decided to click on one attempt and another page opened and prompted me to allow or not allow this game to make changes to a protected folder. After I did that, I tried starting the game and it finally showed the campaigns and seems to work fine now even though I am using maximum resolution with 300% enlargement of text.

Uh... I don't have any of the other games in the list to allow them to make changes to folders, only this one, but now it works. I don't even know how to instruct someone to find this within the settings of Windows 11. Try checking notifications on the right side of your laptop screen or monitor, then go from there. Seems kind of stupid, but I guess that was the problem the whole time. Wow.
