Dateline Saigon:

US Air forces struck a blow today against Japanese Pirates operating in the South China Sea. US bombers based at Hue scored two bomb hits on Japanense Pre-Dreadnaughts. The former Jap Flag Ship had a torpedo tube destroyed and reportedly suffered moderate casualties to crew working on deck.

General Billy Mitchell again noted that if the US bombers had better bombs this small blow could have been a significant event in the war against Japan. To date only torpedo bombers have proven effective against enemy Battleships. Our level bombers have not accomplished much because of the light ordanance available.

Some months ago Congress had voted some $25,000,000 towards the further research and development of naval aviation. To date we have seen no concrete improvements, but sources close to the action state that big things are coming.

Dateline Pearl Harbor:

The US Navy announced today that they would be redeploying their submarine pickets. They admit that they have totally lost track of the location and intentions of the Jap Battlefleet. The assumption is that the Japanese are reforming their main battle units into a single fleet for the next phase of their operations.

The Battle of Dutch Harbor has resulted in a temporary shift in the balance of power to the Japanese. In addition to the 6 Dreadnaught and 3 Pre-Dreadnaughts the US lost at the battle, there were a number of Dreadnaughts that were heavily damaged and will be in the shipyards for some time to come. The net result is that the US is at least 6 months away from being able to even think of any offensive action.

Of course the Navy is under heavy pressure from Congress to do something, but so far they have remained firm. A carrier raid on Kiska Island failed when the carrier force was detected and narrowly escaped destruction.

Meanwhile the land battle phase at Dutch Harbor continues to play out. The US has amassed a significant stockpile of supplies and it is thought to be just a matter of time before the Jap forces there are forced to surrender. Barring a major Japanese reinforcement.

Dateline Washington DC:

The US government announced today an end to hostilities with the Empire of Japan. Negotiations had been going on for some time and we have agreed to terms.

1) Japanese forces will be evacuated from Dutch Harbor and the Aleutian Islands currently occupied by the Japanese Army will be evacuated. The US will not fortify or develop the Aleutians as military bases.

2) The US will cede control of the Philippines, Wake, Guam, and Baker Island to the Empire of Japan.

3) The Empire of Japan will return control of Pago-Pago and Canton Island to US control. The US will not fortify or develop these islands as military bases.

4) The US Navy will maintain no more than 16 capital ships in the Pacific Ocean and will not build more than 20 Dreadnaughts not to exceep 40,000 tons in size.
