Game issues

Crown of Glory: Europe in the Age of Napoleon, the player controls one of the crowned potentates of Europe in the Napoleonic Era, wielding authority over his nation's military strategy, economic development, diplomatic relations, and social organization. It is a very thorough simulation of the entire Napoleonic Era - spanning from 1799 to 1820, from the dockyards in Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

Game issues

Post by cambronne »

I dowloaded the most recent patch and am having 2 problems.

1) I am not getting battle reports at the end of turn events log. I get some, but not all.
I had a battle where I ended up capturing almost the entire Austro-Russian army (around 100,000) and did not get a reprot and didn't know if I gained any horses or artillery divisions.

2) Frequently, I will launch a cavalry charge against an isolated enemy artillery unit and get a message that I cannot do so because there is an enemy unit adjacent to it. This happens even when there is no within a hex in any direction.
Also, having organized units next to my artillery rarely seems to stop the enemy from charging.

Am I missing something?

Are the missing reports occuring after you've saved a game during detailed battle? (There is a known issue where the reports become truncated when the game is saved during detailed battle.)

Screening artillery/caissons occurs when an ordered enemy infantry or cavalry unit is adjacent to the charging unit, not necessarily when it's adjacent to the unit being charged.

Also note that charges can occur across fords in rivers and across frozen rivers, but not across non-frozen, non-fordable river hex sides.

Ahhh. I think that answers my questions except.
So if I have an infantry unit a hex in front of, but not adjacent to, an artillery unit that will still work as a screen?

The infantry needs to be adjacent to the unit that would charge your artillery in order for theinfantry to screen your artillery. The infantry does not necessary have to be adjacent to the artillery.

The ART units in the graphic below are un-chargable. Hope this clarifies things some.

I guess I completely misunderstood.
I thought that adjacent meant that there had to be a unit "adjacent " to the artillery unit rather than the charging cavalry unit. Thanks.

Excellent. Thank you, this does make it understandable.
